Got a Pan Cam for Christmas along with Cam Unlimited and have the AI set to notify me for people and packages, but so far, every time it alerts me to “a person” it’s almost always (like 90% of the time) a vehicle. The firmware is up to date. Does the AI just have to be trained for my camera? With the amount of vehicle traffic on my street, it’s a bit annoying getting “person” alerts for almost every vehicle and wondering if it’s accurately assessing people or if I’m missing a good number.
I don’t have any Cam Pans but my V4 cams work well with the AI. If you don’t want a lot of vehicle alerts you can turn that off in the settings.
Sharing some details about your settings and how you’re using the camera (i.e., what it’s looking at) might be a helpful place to start. Screenshots (e.g., your Event Recording and Customize Recordings screens) can be especially informative. As a “New User (TL0)”, you’re limited to one image per post, but you can get to TL1 and be able to include more images by visiting/reading a few more topics and posts and spending a few more minutes in the community, and poking around like that might also answer some questions for you.
I don’t think this is the case. My understanding of Wyze’s system is that it uses aggregate data and that training isn’t done on an individual camera basis.
If you’re seeing “Person Detected” notifications whenever a passing vehicle triggers a motion detection event, then I wonder if something else within the camera’s view resembles a person to the AI. Some culprits mentioned by users in the past have been mailboxes, trees, porch columns…. My Battery Video Doorbell was recently triggering person detections (which I would then hear announced on Google Home and Amazon Echo speakers) on my front porch because of wind blowing a flag. Setting a proper Detection Zone cleared that up for me, so you may find that you’ll need to configure that to mask out whatever the camera “thinks” is a person. If you try that and have unwanted events/notifications even after setting a Detection Zone, then (temporarily) enabling Motion Tagging and then sharing screenshots of your Detection Zone and an unwanted event snapshot (showing the green Motion Tagging box) can help with troubleshooting.

Thank you! Since I only get 1 image upload right now:
Detection settings both set to 50, detection zone off (I’ll play with that; right now i have the camera set in place so I can see my porch which does have columns, and a bush and a mailbox and the sidewalk/street. Motion tagging is set to off but I still get the green box following vehicles and the occasional person.
Event Recording is set to Motion only, and Smart Detection Events is enabled. On Customized Recordings i only have it set to People and Packages.
Hmm that’s already turned off which makes it interesting that it keeps alerting me to vehicles but calling them people…
That’s weird. I would expect to see green boxes only if you have your Cam Pan v3’s Settings ➜ Detection Settings ➜ Motion Tagging enabled. ![]()
I think that’s probably your next step. The photo is helpful, and there are a number of things there that I wonder if the Cam is seeing and the AI is interpreting as a “Person”. It looks like there’s some kind of decoration hanging from your porch beam about ⅓ of the way over from the left edge of your image, and it looks like something that might spin and move in a breeze. That’s where I’d maybe start if I wanted to block something with a Detection Zone in this case, or you could consider moving that decoration. What’s tricky here is that you’re using Cam Pan v3, and the Detection Zone and Track Motion features are mutually exclusive, so you need to decide how you want to operate this camera and what’s most important to you.
Or you could just get more cameras for your subscription:

I think what may be happening is that something (some amount of motion) within the camera’s view is triggering a detection event and then the analysis model looks at what’s going on in the image, sees the parked vehicles and something else (hanging decoration, column, etc.), and then reports to you what it thinks it sees in the event/notification (“Vehicle” and “Person”).
Something else you can do as you review these from your Events tab is to submit them to Wyze (the “Did we get it right?” control beneath the view pane on an Event) and deselect whatever is not in the video (e.g., “Person”). That’s supposed to help train the AI model, as I understand it.
Thanks everyone; I set the detection zone to exclude the street and I havent gotten any notifications about “people that are actually vehicles” since. I’ve also been on planes but during my layovers there hasn’t been anything
