Thought you said it was common. How about non-Wyze swappable batterie cams?
Sort of off topic, and I agree that they seem to be a solid, will engineered battery camera, but I and others are experiencing issues where the Battery Cam Proās are NOT recording to the cloud when they should be. Makes me wonder what my four Battery Cams are missing, see thread at:
Wireless Camera not picking up movement
Back on topic, Iāve a Battery Cam Pro and WCO v2 down a hill about a 100 feet from the house for over a month now, connected to Wyze Solar Panels, and, so far both batteries are maintained by the Solar panels, and neither has ālocked upā requiring laying of hands on them yet.
I did, You didnāt say in Wyze cams, you said in wifi cams. Wyzeās only current battery cam (as well as the battery doorbells) have swappable batteries.
Ring, Lorex, and Blink are all ones that come to mind that have it also. Iām sure there are a dozen more on google.
While I donāt see it for sale on the main Wyze.com site, I do still see the older Wyze Cam Outdoor (WCO v2) available in the Wyze store on Amazon. Oddly enough, Iāve a WCO v2 that is doing better at detecting deer properly in a field right now, than the newer ābetterā Battery Cam Pro. They both have different āfeature setsā that may or may not be preferable for oneās use case. The WCO v2 (and v1) are discontinued models.
Wyze Cam Outdoor Starter Bundle v2 on Amazon
Yeah by āoffered by Wyzeā I mean current models that havenāt gone end of sale. It is still possible to get the older models, but honestly the whole ābase stationā model seems to be problematic for many and those cams donāt have as many features as the BCP.
I agree that the Base Station used by the WCO v1 & v2 is ākludgyā, but it is that kludgy Base Station with a fairly newly purchased from Amazon WCO v2 that is documenting the issue I am seeing with the Battery Cam Pro issue I am experiencing (and others have posted about).
In Summary, I have a WCO v2 and a Battery Cam Pro, both connected to its own Wyze Solar Panel, both cameraās side by side, pointed in the same direction. Last night, I had another instance where the Battery Cam Pro is failing to record to the cloud or SD Card, a Deer slowly grazing literally in front of both cameras.
The āolder technologyā WCO v2 gladly recorded to the cloud the slow movement of that deer:
iāve 7 WCO v1s as well, and they actually serve a purpose for my use case as well. If I ever come across WCO v2ās for sale, depending on the condition of them, Iād still consider keeping them in service for how I use them. (like for keeping tabs on the problems my Battery Cam Proās are currently experiencing
)
I know people have been complaining about some of the cams no longer detecting wildlife as pets. Maybe the WCO isnāt getting the algorithm updates or something.
Guess it depends on what OP is looking to capture.
