Ask Grok for recommended routers that would work best with Wyze cameras and the NETGEAR Nighthawk RAX70 was recommended.
Should have stronger signal than current router (even though new) to help eliminate drops.
The Nighthawk would be dedicated 2.4 and the AT&T router set only for 5.
Is this a typical setup?
What routers have you found to be most reliable and least drops?
Saw other similar posts but over a year old and technology changes rapidly.
I use a Linksys EA6350. This is an older router that is still available. I bought just before the COVID pandemic when my wife, daughter and I were all working remotely. It worked flawlessly with the three of us working remotely.
When I first started buying Wyze v3 cameras in 2022, I found all of my v3 cameras worked very well with the EA6350. I have toyed with the idea of buying a newer router but too happy with the EA6350 and my IoT. I may buy another router to play with, but I am keeping my EA6350 as long as it still works.
I am able to specify an SSID name for the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands, so my Wyze cameras will only look for my 2.4Ghz network.
I have a two story house and had to place the EA6350 in the center on the main floor to get acceptable signal strength to all of my Wyze cameras. Two of my v3 cameras are on my second floor.
As I mentioned above, I am considering a newer router because I like the increased security newer tech offers. The EA6350 has not had updated firmware offered in several years (and I do check regularly for updates).
You might research the Wyze Mesh router. A Mesh system should give a strong signal throughout your area.
Maybe other Wyze Forum members will chime in on the Wyze router or other equipment that works for them.
I have the Wyze Mesh 6E Pro. I use 2 nodes (both wired). It’s a great Mesh WiFi system. I have ZERO problems with Wyze Cameras. Everything works great.
The Con’s… NO UPDATES since very early after Launch, which has been 2 years now? This worries me.
They run HOT. Real Hot. I’ve put little PC cooling fans (USB powered) off the USB port of the router to off-set this. Works great, but shouldn’t have been released with them running so hot.
I would look at the Eero’s or Orbi Mesh WiFi if I were you.
