Crappy firmware update broke our system

No I don’t.

I get that Wyze’s firmware broke the Tiny Cam interface, but you have to understand that Wyze or any other manufacturer can’t test and make sure that their software/hardware is working properly with every third party software in existence. The onus is on the third party software developers to make sure their software is working with the hardware.

That’s how the entire industry works.

I actully spent 10 years as a project manager / beta testing for software companies. Testing with the most common 3rd party usage is industry standard. Wyze knows lots of people use TinyCamPro, in fact, wyze was who recommended I use it.

Bottom line is wyze should have thier own ap. Since they dont, they should consider and test against the most commonly used third party aps and they didnt which is why this happened and why Im so frustrated about it.

Wyze updated the authentication in their app and on the cams, and advertised that in advance. The programmer of Tiny Cam works for Wyze (but the app itself is not a Wyze app). If you’re mad, go complain to the Tiny Cam developer, he knew this was coming. This has nothing to do with bad programming or your project management past. New security was added, thus anything that connects needs to support that new security, plain and simple.

As I said, if you are running an unsupported 3rd party app, you should hold off on any firmware updates until the developer of that app confirms it is supported - especially when the release notes mention new security and a minimum app version is required, as this one does.

Dave you made my point as wyze recommending TinyCamPro makes more sence now.

But as someone who worked in the software industry and my coder friends, they all agree this was a premature push (release) by wyze developers. Its not the 3rd party’s job to jump code a fix in because wyze pushed new code.

You keep blaming me for using an unsupported 3rd party ap, but that is what we were told to do by WYZE before we purchased the cameras. Sorry dude, but you cant have it both ways.

If you recommend a 3rd party ap, support it. If you dont want to do that, release the ap your customers need.

Doing neither is lazy and not supporting the people who you are in business for in the first place.

Im guessing you work for wyze David. Love loyalty, but companies who are not loyal to and fail to look out for their clients see the clients leave and eventually the business goes out of business.

Support your customers or lose them.

Wyze employees rarely post here and when they do it is clearly stated before their name.

Simply telling you the facts, wyze did not prematurely release or break anything of their own. Are you sure you weren’t mistaking the person who recommended Tiny Cam as being a Wyze employee like you are doing now?

Everything you need to know has already been posted by multiple people, no sense in beating a dead horse. Stick with the supported official Wyze app, or check compatibility before doing any firmware updates in the future, simple as that.

Im just pushing back on your incorrect assertions dave27

So flashing the cameras didnt fix the problem. Ive now spent most of this week trying to fix this problem with no progress. I bought the camera to help, now all its doing is hurt.

I could give you the exact solution and you’d still give attitude and blame me for all your problems, so why waste any more time?

I’d suggest in the future if you want help, go about getting it a different way.

Mine are not working either. I’m getting an error -14. What’s the fix?
