Why doesn’t Wyze create an Access Point mode like all of Chinese cameras I’ve tested? AP mode creates its own WiFi but lacks some features such as be able to access the camera outside the network.
In CA PGE turned off our power for 4 days for fire prevention. Luckily we have a Tesla powerwall and our house had power and WiFi was on, but internet was out! Today I checked the video on my sdcard and there was no video during the blackout where I had power but no online access.
I remember this thread and was hoping if anyone had a solution to this, what good is a security camera when recording stops when there is no online connection. I think the issue is that these Wyze cams cannot record on Sd card without being online. Was connected to WiFi but was not online.
Hello @garyhgaryh and welcome to the community.
I have been doing lots of testing on this very issue and what I have found is if a camera is plugged in and maintains power it will continue to record to the SD card even though internet is lost, but if power is lost the camera must see internet before it will record to the SD card. So basically as long as the cam remains powered after the loss of internet it will continue to record.
