Connection help for my Wyze Plug (pre-2021 model)

I have been a Wyze fan since the beginning and own many cameras, plugs, bulbs, and a scale. I have tried chat support and phone support, both failed. I logged into the Wyze Discord server, but it was dead and no one talks or replies in there.

I have my computer monitors plugged into a Wyze plug (pre-2021 model). The power went out recently, and I cannot get it to re-pair with my network.

I am using the Android Wyze app, and I know it works because I was able to get all of my Wyze bulb whites to reconnect.

I also know the 2.4GHz network works because it is the same one I am using for my 3 Wyze Plug whites that all connect and work perfectly.

My Wyze plug (pre-2021 model) enters pairing mode (the light blinks quickly) and I can go through the whole process of setting it up in the app, When it gets to the “connecting” part that says it may take a minute, it fails, and nothing I try will make it connect.

And yes, my Android Pixel 9a is connected to the same WIFI network that I am trying to connect my Wyze Plug to.

I have rebooted my router.

My plug is within 6-10 feet of my router, which I have configured myself and the network works perfectly with every device except this plug.

Any advice or assistance is greatly appreciated.

My primary advice in situation with stubborn IoT devices is to temporarily turn off all your Wi-Fi network radios except 2.4 GHz and do the same for mobile data on your phone so that you’re forcing your phone to use only the 2.4 GHz network. Typically I also recommend moving the “new” device close to (in the same room as) the Wi-Fi source, but you’ve already indicated that you’re doing that. If you have other wireless access points on your network, then you may want to turn those off while attempting to add this device so that you have only a single active access point during setup. Also, if you’re using something like mixed-mode WPA2/WPA3 security for your Wi-Fi, you might want to limit that to WPA2 only, at least until this device is online.

Your post reminds me of things like Wyze Plug v1 Wont Connect - #2 by Crease, and that post links back to some older posts where I’ve described my own frustration and troubleshooting while trying to get a 2019 Plug reconnected.
