Complete & Simple Instructions for SDCard vs. Cloud Storage

Ok, so I have learned after getting 8 cameras that the cloud storage is limited & won’t work for me.

So, I need to explore SDCard storage, but there seems to be no clarity in the messages, questions & explanations on this board about what the effect between the two is.

Also, is there any third party cloud storage, or am I required to use the native service?

Cloud storage you get an alert and 12 sec cloud clip with a 5min cooldown period before another clip can be recorded.

With an SD card in each cam you still get everything above and can either record 24/7 or when motion is detected (for the entire time motion is detected). To see more than the 12 sec clip you click playback.

I. E. Motion is detected, you get notification, you click the notification and it takes you to the 12sec cloud clip, 12 sec clip doesn’t show everything you need to see so you click playback to see past the 12 sec.

Or you can pay for the CMC subscription and there are no limits for the cloud clips.

SD card recordings and Cloud storage of the 12 sec event clips are two separate things

Does the notification feature only work with cloud storage? I have it on but never get a notification of movement within the field of view.

You Don’t get Notifications For your SD card recordings, Only for your 12 second event clips

Thanks for letting me know that. So, I am on the free trial right now and I am not getting notifications. How do I make that work?

If you have cameras set up with complete motion capture you should be getting notifications from your cloud clips from those cameras’ because I do .
Make sure your settings are all correct.

There are three places to control push notifications:
Per camera in the cameras Settings > Event Recording > Send Push Notification. This can be controlled by the camera owner or shared user and will affect both. This does affect Smoke/CO Alarm push notifications.

Globally on an account basis by tapping the bell icon on the top right of the home screen, or using the switch in Account > Notifications.
This affects only the owners or shared users login account on all devices they have logged in to the Wyze app.

In the phone’s OS settings, which can enable or disable all notifications from any particular app.
This applies to only that particular phone/tablet. (Note: this is not possible in some versions of Android.)

You can think of the three notification control options as three concentric rings or gates.
If the inner gate (level-1, per camera) is closed, no notifications get beyond that level.
If the gate is open, then the notification can attempt to get past the next level (level-2, account), etc.

I really appreciate that in depth information. However, I am not seeing any setting for the push notification. I have almost every notification and permission settings turned on within my phone. I am a bit lost after that at this point.

UPDATE…

OK, I think I have it now. I just saw that I did not have the complete motion capture setting on. Now to go set that up.

See what I mean? NO CLARITY. I bet Wyze can’t even give a straight answer.

Have you tried searching through the Wyze Support Articles?
