I am unable to obtain ANY chimes at this point from Wyze. The original small white chimes are no longer available and now the Wyze Universal Chime is no longer available and it is doubtful if it will be available in the future according to AI. I have two original WIRED video doorbells installed at two different homes and both require additional chimes. I am down to one Universal chime and two small white ones that actually work at those two homes. Two other small white ones have now died. I am missing people at the door because I cannot hear the chime unless I am in that room. I do not want to replace both systems and the only chime available from Wyze at this point will not work on the original Version 1 video doorbell. Will anything else work as a chime for this model video doorbell?
I recall your topic from a few months ago where you discussed similar concerns.
Which particular tool did you consult? Is it trustworthy? Even the AI-enhanced tools that Wyze uses on its own site have been known to give incorrect answers, and that’s often a source of frustration. I wouldn’t expect this product to be discontinued since it was introduced just about a year ago and has been designed to work with all Wyze cameras and video doorbells.
The availability problem reminds me of another recent topic where I read this:
I suspect that a lot of people who ordered the new Battery Video Doorbell have also ordered (or tried to order) Wi-Fi Chime and that the demand has outpaced supply for the time being. If you haven’t already done so, I’d visit Wi-Fi Chime’s product page and sign up to be notified when it’s available again.
Since the ability to sign up for notification of the chime when it is in stock is not available on the product page, Co-Pilot indicated that when that has happened in the past with Wyze it was because the product was no long going to be carried. I certainly hope they do get them back in stock otherwise I will have to replace two wired doorbells that are working perfectly - I just can’t hear them when someone rings. I was hoping someone on the forum could recommend something else that would work with the original version video doorbells.
That feature is not enabled on the product page unfortunately. It is the first thing I tried to do.
I see it when I open that page just now:
It takes several seconds after the page loads for that button to appear for me. If you’re waiting on that page and not seeing it at all, then I wonder if you’d have better results with a different browser or if you’re using an extension or setting that might be blocking it for some reason. (For what it’s worth, I’m seeing it with Mozilla Firefox on Windows with the EFF Privacy Badger and uBlock Origin extensions installed and active.)
As I mentioned in your other topic, I don’t have this particular doorbell model, so I’m not sure what Wyze makes available for Automations, but if it gives you the option of a doorbell button press to use as a trigger (I suspect it does if you’re already using a “Universal” Wi-Fi Chime with one), then I imagine you could use that to turn on a Wyze Plug and then use that to power some type of buzzer, radio, or other noise-making device. If you’re using something like Amazon Echo devices with Alexa or Google Home smart speakers or displays, then it’s likely possible to use those for doorbell button press announcements, but I’m not sure what to recommend specifically without having a better idea of your smart home environment.
