Can't connect Cam Pan to 2.4ghz network

I run an Eero dual mesh network in my home. It provides 2.4ghz and 5ghz signals. Yesterday, I tried to connect an old Cam Pan v1 to the network. The Eero network has a feature specifically for connecting 2.4ghz devices. I can temporarily suspend the 5ghz network and force it to use 2.4ghz. I’ve used this to connect other devices that only talk 2.4ghz.

I started the process to connect the camera and go to the point where it asks to connect to the network. Unfortunately, the Wyze app did not detect that the 2.4ghz network was running. It showed my 5ghz network as a disabled choice.

How am I connect this camera if the app does not detect that a 2.4ghz connection is available?

The app is showing what your phone is detecting - is your phone seeing the 2.4ghz network name?

If you have separate network names for the two bands, there shouldn’t be any need to disable the 5ghz one.

Eero does not broadcast two separate network names. It provides the ability through the Eero app to temporarily suspend the 5ghz signal and allow the 2.4ghz signal to broadcast.

Can I set my eeros to use the 2.4 or 5 GHz frequency? explains that the Eero uses a single SSID for both signal types. So, there’s no way for me to define a 2.4ghz network. It’s already inherent in the Eero.

Yeah that’s pretty typical but you had said your phone saw a disabled 5ghz network so assumed you had spilt them into separate network names, which is why I asked.

If you turn off smart connect or whatever they call it you can probably define separate ones, but that’s not required, just wasn’t sure what you meant.

If your phone was not connected to wifi that’s likely the reason you weren’t able to finish setup.

This might help. On your cell phone, turn off the cell service while trying to connect the camera.

@Sam_Bam That did not help. However, I was able to complete the setup and add the camera to my network. While the 2.4ghz network did not show up in the list of networks, an “Other” option did show. The “Other” option let me enter the SSID and the password of the 2.4ghz network. It then produced a QR code that I was able to scan with the PanCam. It then successfully connect to my network.

Good work. Sorry that didn’t help. Thanks for the feedback that it did not. Now, I know not to suggest that any more. Surprised though that something generated a QR code for you. But good. Good to hear its working. thanks.
