Camper/RV Thermostat

Rcbamm / TheChazz,

Any updates? Is your mod still working? I’m about to try the same thing. But it just don’t want to smoke a control board.

I doubt it will. But just wondering before I take the leap.

Thanks.

Perhaps you were talking to me. Yes, the relay mod with the WYZE is working fine. The rest of the mod requires that you supply 24vac to the thermostat, and the input voltages of the relays. I accomplished that with a doorbell wall wart a/c transformer.
Never did come up with a programming of the Wyze that would operate the fan in all 3 speeds. So, the 2nd relay not really necessary unless you do need multiple speeds.

Cliff,
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.
But, I’m trying to avoid the 24vac angle altogether.
I don’t have a house inverter so ac only exists when I’m hooked up.
If I’m in the boonies, I’ll only have the house batteries (for heat).
But I’ll keep that 24vac transformer / relay bank idea in mind. I know I’ve got a few transformers around.

So, I took the plunge.
I used the step-up board as described in the above posts.
I set it for 18.4 volts. And the unit(s) run just fine.
I checked the relay specifications for the control boards on my rv ac (Coleman-Mach) and furnace. Turns out, they can handle voltages up to 19.2 volts, in my case.
So, I made it work. Thanks for the help, gang. If there are questions, let me know. I’ll help as I can.

To add some clarity to this, it works well with the step up regulator. I cannot speak for other brands but the Coleman Quiet series uses the common (-12vdc) to trigger the internal relays so there is no need to have to over think things. The step up regulator is only supplying power to the thermostat. I used a 2” heat shrink tube to insulate the regulator before tucking them in the walls. I have 3 AC’s in my 5er and these are working great. I also figured out how to wire them to maintain the 2 speed fan control as well. G is Compressor, Y1 is Low Fan, Y2 is High Fan, W1 is Furnace, C is -12vdc and Rc is +12vdc.

just a heads up, mine (purchased 2023) didn’t kicked on until my converter reached 20V
