256gb card formatted at FAT32 reads as 32GB when looking at the Advanced Setting /Manage
SD card. Firmware 4.58.0.3210 What am I missing? I see discussions that individuals are using large cards.
This may sound like a dumb question, but exactly what is it showing as the capacity?
Also, as I recall, for larger than 32GB it needs to be formatted as ExFAT.
Yep, FAT32 can only support 32 gb max. Anything larger you must format it as ExFAT
I have this 64GB card formatted in FAT32 and is has the correct capacity of 59.6 GB. I used the Ridgecrop GUI formatter to format the card.
Interesting, but does it show like that in the cam? Windows may just show the total space even if it’s not technically usable due to format? Idk
I just took it out of a V3 and it showed up correct in the cam also. I now have 128GB cards but they are in ExFAT.
One more note. If you format a 64GB card or larger to FAT32 on a Windows PC the Max you will get is 32 GB. You need to use a different format tool. I have used this tool for years. Just click on the picture to download and save the program. I am sure there are others but this has worked for me numerous times because my old dash cam would take large cards but only in FAT32, new dash cam will use ExFAT. I formatted the 64GB card long before WYZE made ExFAT usable and I had good luck with it in my V3.
Thank you! I thought about the problem I was having a couple times last night. I had ExFat in my mind so I was not going to figure it out, just stuck in my mind. Then I saw your email and the lightning bolt hit me. Oh Yeah! Reformatted and all is good. Thanks again, Al
PS- Works on 256gb.

Oddly it was showing 32GB whereas it was 256. I reformatted to Fat32 and it shows 256. I have always known that and done that but this time I had it in my mind if was ExFat. I also tried it with a 128gb (ExFAT) and it showed 32gb.

Since WYZE made changes and gave most of the plug in cams the ability to use larger cards and supported ExFAT I never saw the need to format larger cards to FAT32. I know there are other users who prefer the FAT32 Format in larger cards but I don’t know the reason why? I used the SD formatter tool to format all my larger ExFAT cards when required.
The problem is both of my new Wyze Pro cameras do not register the card size with exfat. They show 32gb. Whether they record past 32gb when they show 32gb with a 256gb card I have not tried that. This would take some time to go past 32gb. I suppose I could do a time lapse but frankly I do not want to be experimenting with these cameras. Just give me the protocol that works but also be current about it. . Not happy having to go to FAT32 because of the 4gb limitation which may be an issue with some timelapses.

Here’s the question I keep coming up with when people talk about formatting uSD cards prior to use. I have over 50 uSD cards in various devices (Wyze and otherwise). I have NEVER needed to format a uSD card prior to using it in any device, Just pull the card out of the package, mark the card number (for my inventory), and plug into whatever device. Exactly what I did with three new 256GB cards that went into three different types of Wyze cameras.
The closest I have come is some Raspberry Pi and BeagleBone single board computers that have a linux OS and in some cases the intended application written as a disk image - which includes some of the functions of a format.
I can only get my Wyze Pro to show the correct amount and recognize the card, the ding when inserted, by reformatting the 128 and 256gb card to Fat32. No exfat which is the native formatting received. Wyze Pro is the camera I am dealing with.

Odd. One of the cameras I put a 256GB card into a few days ago was a V3 Pro. Just took the card out of the package, marked it for my inventory, and plugged it into the camera, and the camera recognized it as 256GB.
BTW, probably not a good idea to put your phone numbers into a public message.
