I am trying to confirm if the Wyze outdoor cam pro can be located in a place where there is no Wi-Fi and still record videos to the SD card. I need to place the camera where there is no power and no Wi-Fi to capture video of anyone at the entry gate to a piece of property.
It should work, however the time and date will be wrong and you’ll need to review the footage by removing the SD card and putting it in a PC.
I’m assuming you mean the battery cam pro and not the outdoor cam pro (don’t think the second exists)?
A trail cam or something similar may be a better solution though. They often have very good battery life and do not rely on any internet connectivity. Many of them you can even review the footage via wifi direct or bluetooth just by having your phone in range of the device.
I can’t say for every single cam but the ones I’ve set up have started recording to SD before I even hit the setup button and gave them a wifi connection. I’ve seen others mention that here also. There were people using v3s as cameras in their car with no internet connection.
The main limitation is you can’t view the video in the app (after connecting the cam to wifi) unless you go to the date the firmware was built, but putting the card in a PC lets you view it.
