We recently purchased 2 Wyze Cam Pan V3 cameras and both seem to work well - with the exception of the camera’s speaker. Both cameras pick up sound and the volume in the phone app is great. But if someone tries to speak through the phone app to the cameras, the volume in both cameras is too low to hear. My phone is a Samsun A53, and it works fine with all other devices. But with the Cam Pan V3 you literally have to be standing right next to the camera, and even then the volume to too low to make out what they are saying. I have seen posts dealing with this issue going back several years, but haven’t seen any solutions yet. Since these are advertised as having “two way audio” is there any chance that a firmware update will one day add a volume control? If not, has anyone done a hardware hack, perhaps adding an earphone jack for an external speaker and/or amplifier? (They are both indoor cameras so weather-proofing is not an issue). I like everything about these cameras except they do not function as advertised.
I have two Cam Pan V3s and a while back I noticed an issue when trying to talk to someone near the camera. When talking it created an echo like feedback that got worse until I turned off the mic. For a while I thought it was because the camera is mounted under a metal camera dome to protect it from rain. Fast forward to this last weekend when I was finally able to spray some black sound absorbing spray paint on the inside of the dome. At first it seemed like it worked but I started to notice a click that would start to echo in the speaker, and it slowly begins to get a little louder the longer I listened. I then checked my other Cam Pan V3 that is under a wooden deck roof only to discover it does exactly the same thing.
Is this a common thing with the Cam Pan V3’s or is it unique to my cameras?
Either way is there anything I can do to stop this click echo so that if I need to I can talk to someone near the camera and be able to talk with them in a clear conversation?

They screwed up the 2 way audio with one of the last updates. It’s been at least a couple of months. I have 3 and they were all fine. Firmware update screwed them all up. Don’t seem to care as there are many similar complaints I’ve found posted here. Maybe they would if everyone with the problem canceled their paid plan and asked for a charge back.
i have a Pan Cam 3. I purchased it so that if I needed to I could TALK BACK to the person in my home. There is no volume on the mic coming out of the camera. It is virtually non-existent. I asked Tech support at Wyze and they could only suggest I submit a wish list. The whole idea of the camera is to enable you to view from another location and SPEAK to whoever is in the location! Unless someone here can tell me what I am missing, am looking for another camera. Very very very disappointed. Thanks to all who respond.
I don’t know what your expectations are, but remember that the speaker in the camera is not much more than what is in an earphone. In other words, it’s a tiny low powered speaker being driven by a very low powered amplifier. If what you are expecting is to be able to clearly talk to someone in your driveway 20 feet from the camera - it’s not gonna cut it.
Try Reolink TrackMix 4k PTZ camera with true optical zoom, And a very LOUD speaker plus a adjustable highly sensitive microphone.
Blows any Wyze cam pan away ![]()
You are also comparing to a camera that is about 3 times the price. Not a very fair comparison…
You do get what you pay for…
The two way audio in my cams works fine and people can hear me just fine, that is until the sound starts echoing and I have to turn off the mic so it stops.
