I have a Cam OG. It’s not catching cars driving by my back gate. Maybe 75 feet not sure real distance. Is the just not capable with the cam or do I need to adjust something. Sensitivity all at 100. It will occasionally get them at night but with bright headlights but not always. And never in daytime. I have included picture of the back gate. Thank for your help.
Thanks for the reply. It seems very similar for my set up your right. The blue car looks farther than 40 feet though. Maybe it’s just my judge of distance like my own yard
. But very similar situation for sure. So assuming OG cam is functioning as it should just to far at my gate distance for detection. Other wise they are great cameras. Doesn’t miss anything at half that distance or less. So like you said 40 feet.
You might try other Wyze cameras which may be more sensitive to motion than the OG. All of my Wyze cameras are Cam v3 with Detection Sensativity set at 90. 90 is my Sweet Spot because it detects motion on my side of the street and ignores motion across my street which I prefer. Here is a Cloud Event video captured of my neighbor’s truck.
Here is the complete footage from my SD card where the truck is pulling out of the driveway that did not start recording an Event recording yet.
I love the OG but I will look into the ones mentioned. Thanks
If you like the Cam OG and intend to look at other models, as well, then you could consider something like Cam OG Telephoto if you can ever find it available again. I think I’ve seen users asking about that one off and on for a while, so I don’t know when and where those can be found. Wyze Shop currently shows them out of stock.
One potential benefit with that particular Cam is that you could use it with a Cam OG Stack Kit and basically have the telephoto camera “co-witness” your backyard but provide a zoomed view of your back gate area. My understanding of the Stack Kit is that its smaller screw should work in the bottom of a Cam OG Telephoto or older Cam OG, but the 2025 updated release of Cam OG changed its screw hole and pedestal mount to use the same ¼″-20 screw size as other Wyze Cams, so the newer Cam OG won’t mount on the top of a Stack Kit without some sort of adapter, I don’t think.
It’s just too far away. As others have mentioned the OG Telephoto might be one you want to consider if it comes back in stock. Or maybe one of the battery cams mounted somewhere out closer (or if possible a wired cam out closer, since the battery cams have tradeoffs). If that shed has power or you can get power out to it, that would probably be a good spot.
Is that your neighbor’s property on the other side of your gate (passed the shed)?
Maybe, ask your neighbor if you can plug in a camera aimed toward your property as a test to see if it will work over the 75 feet to reach your WiFi.
If it works, negotiate a neighborly agreement to keep it there.
Amazon is currently showing an OG Telephoto renewed as available if you are interested for $24.95.
I am not seeing it on Amazon. Here is a Refurb on EBay. I am tagging the OP @stim80 to see if they are interested.
In case it helps, this thread shows OG telephoto including a map of the distance the images were taken at
Looks like the OP has a couple of options to see if 3X Optical Zoom will help.
I ordered this and will try. Thank you for finding it.
