I believe it’s currently (still) the latter, so that if something happens within the camera’s view to trigger a motion detection event (depending on how you have Settings ➜ Detection Settings ➜ CAMERA SENSITIVITY set) and if you’re using a subscription (which apparently you are), the image(s) that initiated the detection event are analyzed by Wyze’s servers, which report (tag) every Smart Detection they see in the event image(s). I believe Wyze has said elsewhere that they’re working on ways to tune vehicle detection, and many users have complained for a long time about being overloaded with unwanted notifications of parked cars from their Wyze Cams. This experience is not exclusive to Bulb Cam.
That’s Motion Tagging. I think it’s helpful when you want an idea of what movement in a given camera view has triggered motion detection events, but you can turn that off if you want: Settings ➜ Detection Settings ➜ Motion Tagging .
You should be able to reduce these somewhat by enabling a Detection Zone: Settings ➜ Detection Settings ➜ Detection Zone ➜ Detection Zone . When setting the Detection Zone, whatever you cover with a grey box is supposed to be excluded from the area of the camera’s view where you want it to be able to make decisions based on motion that it sees, so it acts like a mask. The clear squares are for where you want the camera to detect motion.
When setting the Detection Zone (which can be a trial-and-error process), it may be useful to leave Motion Tagging enabled. Being able to see what triggered a motion detection event (surrounded by the green rectangles) can guide you in making changes to your Detection Zone until you achieve the results you’re seeking. Then you can turn Motion Tagging off if you no longer want the green boxes.
