Backplate on Duo

Well, my Duo arrived.
I wanted to see how the backplate attached and detached, so I put it on, then took it off with a pin in the pin hole

Then I put it back on again… and now I cannot get the backplate off!!

Tried everything
. Even taking the small little casing off where the spring attachment is…
Nothing appears broken… in just won’t detach!!

I tried a bit of force with viceg4ipa, but backed off for fear of cracking plastic case.

Not sure what is stopping it…??

Michael

Eectrician is supposed to come on Thurs.
I will have to cancel him if I can’t get this backplate off!!

Not sure exactly what the issue is. Can you provide pictures of the top and sides. Why am I asking this, well if the backplate is not fully seated at the bottom, you will have a difficult time releasing it as it is wedged in.

Make sure it is fully seated at the bottom and top. Then try the pin and push it down through the hole, it should then release down so you can pull the top out.

Just a guess though.

Thanks Spamoni…

Not sure how to attach a pic…??

The unit is seated fully on the bottom, from what I can tell.
I am able to push the pin (spring) down… but nothing happens…??

It must catch somewhere, but I can’t find it.
??

Having taken the little cover off, over the spring mechanism, it is hard to see what pushing that spring does…??
Looking inside the unit, it doesn’t appear to be moving anything which could lock it, when pushing down…??

You were able to remove the backplate before and now it won’t come off?

Maybe you need a longer pin? I use a paper clip and it requires very little pressure to pop it off.

Edit -

My guess is that your pin isn’t hitting the inside button. I looked inside; it has a very small cross-section Make sure it’s centered.

I was able to remove it once, but when I tried again… nothing… I can feel the spring being pushed down… but only slightly…

I am able to push it down… just nothing feels like it is disengaging…??
