At the end of my rope with these cameras

I ran the hardware department for a Fortune 500 company for almost 15 years. It is Well documented that 2.4 penetrates through a building much better than 5.0. while 5.0 has a higher bandwidth it does not go as far through solid objects such as walls or windows.
I have 17 cameras at our home and two of our rental properties. I agree that using a wireless repeater preferably wired whenever you can can dramatically improve the performance of these cameras especially if you have stucco walls back with wire mesh. Even if you just have brick exterior it will significantly attenuate a 2.4 signal

My biggest challenge has been the ability of the software to correctly detect what it is seeing. While I am on a beta team and getting frequent firmware updates, the detection ability does not always improve.

Additionally since I have Cam V3, cam v4, pan cam V3 the user interface is different between all of these. Is one of my biggest sore spots with the development team. There should be consistency in the UI amongst all of their products

Since this topic has already wandered pretty far afield (and the original poster has contributed to that ), I’ll say that I agree and have argued for this, as well. I understand that the cameras don’t all have the same features and capabilities, so the UIs can’t be completely identical across the board, but the “plugin” differences sometimes make the UI feel like it was assembled in piecemeal fashion and not with a master plan or set of design standards in place that every new thing (product, feature, whatever) must adopt. It makes Dark Theme and others feel like afterthoughts. Consistency would be a good goal.

Is the same as Beating a Wyze Software Engineer :winking_face_with_tongue:

Absolutely, there is a significant difference, even out in the wide open it cant go as far because even the air causes it to disperse faster. That being said, I’ve seen many cases where a low 5ghz signal has more bandwidth available than a strong 2.4 one. Can’t write it off just because it appears weak.

I also am at my ends with these cameras, I have about 7 cameras I’ve lost two out of my 10 but the cost and the quality of the feed and I upgraded my plan to the $12.99 a month I got charged at the end of last month when I upgraded and got charged 12.99 already for this month, the unlimited and 24/7 monitoring is very misleading. It does the same exact thing that the 2.99 per month per camera does when I’m only getting one camera for 12.99 and getting the same exact service. I also have the bulbs I have four of them on the outside of my house I have had to re-add them to my app 100 times and I have finally given up because it is very frustrating. Their plans make no sense. Their cloud makes no sense in the quality on. These are pretty bad as well as I had an old subscription which I had to cancel because someone hacked into it. I was to be refund the 5.99 from a per month and somehow magically after two months that account was reactivated and I was charged another 5.99. It was never given back any of my money just as within 2 1/2 weeks I’ve paid the 12.99. I’m really really at my end with wise and I’ve had them for years and I was always recommended these cameras, but I am definitely looking at another service at this point.

Yes a company’s service should improve not degrade.

Not with Wyze
