Since more and more users seem to be reporting this, I’m still inclined to think it might be some funky server-side issue like they had previously with a lot of Cam v3s, and I really wish we had Fix-It Fridays again to track this, because that’s where it seemed to get attention and eventual back-end resolution from Wyze.
I’m gonna factory reset my problem child as part of the troubleshooting for my open Waypoints issue ticket.
Getting back on topic, though, I’m interested to learn how @matthew_540012738’s testing is progressing, especially after seeing that “professional rendering” of the device map.
I agree it’s on Wyze’s server side
One pan cam V3 showed no SD, Then the a week later SD was okay. SD was never touched.
SD was missing 7 days of continuous recording.
Good ol’ Unreliable Wyze Cams
Yeah, not to take this topic too far afield, but I’m mildly baffled by how some of these problems express themselves on some devices but not others and then are resolved by some back-end change without apparent user intervention. I know that at least some of the app’s UI is server-based, because I’ve seen changes appear there that haven’t actually involved app or firmware updates. It’s more illustration of how dependent upon a reliable connection to the mother ship these things are.

Go in to your account and make sure your cams are associated with the subscription.

And the AWS & Wyze Servers Reliability…
That’s one of the main reasons I switched to self hosted cams and NVR as backup to camera if something happens to camera or it’s SD.
WYZE is now my secondary camera system
It’s about a tie now in cam numbers, but as the Wyze cams die off usually from water in lens they are replaced with non-wyze cameras

Care to share what brand you are replacing them with

Reolink’s 4k series of cams
Although the 2k series are a closer comparison to Wyze’s offerings.
The Reolink 2k series starts at about $10 more than a V4 currently on Amazon. Reolink Lumus @ $45
I decided I might as well upgrade to higher 4k resolution as it does better license plate captures
My favorite Reolink camera is the dual-cam Pan-Tilt-Zoom (optical zoom) Trackmix 4k camera, great video and extremely good audio.
The Trackmix 4k PTZ has the best audio out of all the other models of Reolink cams I use.
just confirming here that i was able to pull one of the adapters today and they are indeed 5V2000mA
I have Pan-Cam V3’s running off 12 volt to 5 volt USB adapters that I run low voltage landscape wiring to.
You can daisy chain this setup for as many cameras as needed by choosing correct power supply to feed the adapters.
This adapter would work with a pan cam v3 as long as you seal the usb connection to the Wyze cable with good waterproof tape.

Below is a link to instructions posted before about this setup, just use above adapter instead of whats on link below
You could also consider using “Low Voltage Wiring” and burying the wire from an A.C. power outlet (indoors) power supply to the cameras. Then use a 12 volt to 5 volt micro-USB regulator adapter and install to camera. The power Supply mounts indoors but the cable to camera can be longer as the 5 volts is regulated at the camera. And Voltage drop due to cable length is not an issue as the regulator will work with as low as 9 volts input. I have ran over 180 feet of 2 conductor cable to camera wi…
I just want one reliable camera that can pick up the animals that keep digging holes in my mulch and has a great zoom for under $500.00
Did you try my trick with the Monitoring tab, to set all the cameras to Disarm, wait a bit and then go back to Home/Away?
I had exactly the same problem as you with all of my cameras (except older v2s) and after weeks of investigation I saw that all the V3/v4 cams were constantly uploading to the cloud even after power cycle, reset etc.
My guess was some kind of server issue but I was only able to see it because of the traffic monitoring in my router where I could see all the cameras active uploading even though no motion or event was detected.
My problems started around the same time as the new app was released.
I have some solar powered animal repellers around my garden. When a rabbit triggers the light at night my Wyze camera will recorded the motion of the repeller light. Rabbits don’t like the high pitched whistle sound too. If you look close there is a rabbit near the swing frame.
Here is a link to the repellers I bought.

These may reduce your digging problem too. Good luck.
camera that can pick up the animals
So, like, a drone to snatch them off the ground?
Reolink Trackmix 4k Pan Tilt & Zoom (optical 6x)
Plus decent digital zoom since it’s 4k
Amazon.com : REOLINK 4K Wired WiFi Outdoor Security Camera, 8MP Dual Lens, 360 PTZ Camera, Auto Tracking, 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi Smart Person/Vehicle/Animal Detection, 6X Hybrid Zoom, Color Night Vision, TrackMix WiFi : Electronics
$174.99
Dual lens (2 cams) main cam just pan & tilt
Secondary Camera has Zoom lens
Tried to upload some videos but the 5mb limit on this forum doesn’t allow these larger 4k videos, Reolink has some good info and videos of camera in operation on their website.
Camera is usually under $200 currently at $174
However Reolink has sales almost every month and I picked it up on sale at $127
The Auto-Tracking with Zoom is great for tracking animals
Nice but I want a 20x Zoom. I fixed the way point issue.
Best I can do is 16x zoom PTZ in the Reolink line of cams
Amazon.com : REOLINK RLC-823S2, Smart 4K/8MP UHD PTZ Dome Security Camera with Cutting-Edge 16X Optical Zoom and 3D Zoom, Spotlights Color Night Vision, Person/Vehicle/Animal Detection, 2 Way Talk, 24/7 Recording : Electronics
$329.99
However I have some used WTI Sidewinders that are over 20x optical zoom. But even used they are well out of your budget
Make a decent offer and one could be yours
Thanks
Yes and I used three sd cards that worked on my other Wyze cameras too. If Wyze is going to make cameras that only last a little more than a year I’m done with them.
Are the cams outside? Mobile homes typically have metal siding with a few small windows, your only way to overcome that is going to be getting the cams mounted where the signal can pass through windows, and try to locate your router/extenders where they have a clear line of sight to the cams through the windows.
Your symptoms are related to connectivity so it is either wifi or your internet speed, and I’m leaning more toward wifi based on your description.
That’s not true, at least in the mobile homes I’ve encountered. Modern mobile homes (mine was built in 1994) have vinyl siding. The few that I know of that were built in the mid to late 80’s also have vinyl siding. If it is older and has metal siding it’s either usually aluminum or really old.
I am thinking he needs a higher speed data plan for his wifi because I had the same issue about 6 or 7 years ago with my smart lights constantly disconnecting. I’ve since upgraded to a 1+ gbps plan and it works great. if his router gateway is centrally located then it should easily cover the entire house, as long as he has a good plan and definitely not the basic one.
