Are only Events stored in the Cloud or 24x7 records?

If I have the Service for storage in the Cloud, is it only storing Events or does it store all recording constantly?

If the camera is in a room with no Events for the past 3 days, would I still be able to view that past few hours from the cloud storage?

Welcome to the forum @MyNewQuestion. Only events are stored on the cloud. It is recommended to use SD card set at continuous recording. The larger the card the longer the span of recordings.

Thanks for the reply.
Seems like that is norm. Unable to find any company that will record 24x7.
Figure if the camera is stolen, the Event in the Cloud may not have enough video without having constant recording.

Keep in mind if your Wyze camera is stolen and then added to the thief’s Wyze account you will no longer have access to Cloud videos.

That seems to be the way it is now. If I recall, it wasn’t like that before.

Unfortunately. The only camera system that will do what you want would be an NVR/CCTV system but those are way more expensive than plain WiFi cameras.

That is correct, some genius at Wyze decided that it was good idea to break it.

Is that still the case? I remember that was supposed to be corrected:

I don’t recall seeing anything specific about an implementation after that, though, nor have I read about anyone experiencing it or trying to test it, so I don’t know what the current status is. :man_shrugging:

Welcome to the Forum, @MyNewQuestion!

Not sure I’d say that is completely true. Amcrest cameras are reasonably priced and, when paired with an Amcrest NVR, very effective. Cost comparison would need to include any Wyze subscription to achieve a valid comparison. I think the cost differential would be recovered in just a couple of years and no recurring subscriptions.

The thread I linked to above was closed in January 2025. Before the thread was locked to new posts, it did not appear to be fixed.

The link you posted brings up another point. I thought Fix-It-Friday discussions were suppose to return.

Right, and that topic was what led to an extensive discussion in the Fix-It Friday topic that I linked, which is the last communication I recall seeing from Wyze on the issue.

What’s the evidence? I haven’t seen any either way, which is the basis for my previous comment. That’s why I don’t know what the current status is.

I remember Jason mentioned a desire to resume those after the beginning of this year, but my understanding is that this was contingent upon Wyze hiring assistants for him, and I don’t know the status of that, either. I have an unrelated Cam Pan v3 issue that I’d really like to get on a list, because it seems to be affecting more and more users.

I don’t know either. With thread closed and no discussion of a resolution, I am assuming it is not fixed.

I will admit I do get myself in trouble at times when I assume.

Making assumptions is easy to do. I do it, too. I try to find evidence when I can, though, or at least ask questions to minimize chances of assumptions.

I think automatic locking of new topics was enabled for the Forum last spring, so if there are no new posts to keep something active then most topics will eventually not allow new replies (topics in categories like Wishlist are exceptions, I believe). FYI, if you encounter a locked topic but want to continue that discussion, you can use the “Reply as linked Topic” feature to create a new topic that links back to the locked topic in order to try to maintain the conversational chain. If someone can demonstrate that this is still an issue, then I would expect something like that to happen.
