Having an unusual problem with my air purifier. For the first 10 days the purifier worked fine with AQI readings 01-05. Then the readings jumped up to the 50 range. I tried resetting to factory settings, starting programming as you would if the unit was new. No change. I then moved purifier to a different room and the AQI reading lowered again to the 01-05 range. Moved it back to its original location and the AQI shot back up to the 50 range. Don’t know what to do at this point!! After running for a week straight you would think the AQI reading would return to it’s original reading of 01-05 range??
It sounds to me like there are extra particles in that room or you would have the same problem when you moved it. It uses a laser to detect particles in the air, and it’s not always the bad AQI kind. For example, it can also be triggered on something like humidity from someone taking a shower or cooking. So even though the air isn’t actually “bad”, humidity is a particle in the air and will show up on the Air Purifier AQI score. Sometimes this also happens when it is near an HVAC vent blowing stuff around. Air fresheners also do this. Sometimes having it in a room with an outside door nearby can cause a different reading in that room vs the others too.
Since the AQI goes back to normal when you move it to another room, it is almost definitely telling you there are some kind of particles in the air in that room lately. It could be countless things, but it’s likely right. Still, 50 is pretty good and nothing to worry too much about. If it is frequently over 100, that can be unhealthy for really sensitive groups, but even that is not too horrible for most people. 150 is when it’s basically unhealthy for everyone (assuming it’s not from humidity from a shower).

Thanks for your input much appreciated as I’m still trying to figure out the parameters of good vs bad and where moderate fits into the scenario. What confuses me is the low reading for a week before it shot up to moderate. I did clean my furniture just prior to the SQI reading rising. But I gave the furniture a thorough vacuuming and that was a week ago. I just expected the air purifier to return to the lower reading
