I was sitting at my desk and heard the motor sound of the Wyse Cam Pan v3 in the room coming out of privacy mode and starting to track me. I checked, and discovered that all of the cam pan cameras in and around my house had just turned themselves on, taken themselves out of privacy mode, and were now all red-light actively viewing and tracking. Nobody that the cameras are shared with was watching the cameras at the time, or even had the android app open. I was able to go into the app and switch them all back into privacy mode. Does anybody know what could have caused this? Has this happened to anybody else? I did not have any power or network problems around the time this happened.
I haven’t put cameras anywhere that require a privacy mode.
Did it happen more than once?
This is the first time that it happened. We keep the cameras in privacy mode at all times except when we are actively viewing them.
Someone in China wanted to view your Wyze cams
You would be better off putting a smart plug on those V3 pans and turn OFF for Real Privacy Mode, and only turn ON when wanting to view.
Just don’t use any Wyze smart plugs, they are garbage
Was the red light on for 5-10 seconds because it had detected you going in to look, or was it on until you put them back to sleep (implying an active viewer)?
Could have been a glitch, but I’d recommend resetting your Wyze account password and making sure anyone you’ve shared them with does too.
A few years ago, before we had the trees trimmed, a gust of wind would make one of the limbs touch a power line hard enough to cause a momentary power outage. A micro outage. All the cameras would go through their reboot process. Sometimes it was so quick nothing else was impacted.
