I have a brand new Wyze Cam Pam v3 and have the plus service on it all so. I’ve noticed over a couple days that the camera for some reason will STOP adding events even though every thing is set to captures them. For instance, my camera was recording events fine until about 1:20am when it then stopped recoding new events even though there were events if you looked at the SD card. Then the only way to get it to work again is to uncheck the plus account for the camera then rechecking it then restarting the camera. This only happens with the v3 I have v2 stationary cameras that work fine. I wanted to buy more of these but now I’m thinking about returning this one back to Amazon. What can I do to fix this, ? yes everything is check marked and yes there is a SD card in the unit working.
As a test, just to confirm a theory, are you able to power cycle the PanV3 on a schedule once a day?
Do you have any Smart Plugs? These would be the best choice. If not, unplugging it for 30s and then plugging it back in before you go to bed?
Since there have been many reports of PanV3 cam connectivity issues like this, my theory is that there may be a memory leak issue. If the cams operate flawlessly with a daily power cycle, this would support this theory. If so, no amount of return and replacement will remedy the situation as it is firmware based.

Yes I can power cycle it.

yes but not with wyze.

Haven’t tried it but will tonight

Yes but returning the camera means I wont have to deal with a inferior product
I will al so tell you my other camera not v3 all work properly
Doesn’t need to be Wyze. Plug the cam into one and program the plug to turn off and then back on 1 minute later at whatever time you choose. That will give you a daily power cycle to test if the cam is loosing its connection because the memory is developing dementia.
Yes, if you are just looking to return it. But if you were looking for them to replace it, the new one will likely do the same. I am currently sitting on all 4 of mine until they get close to the warranty return 12 month mark. If they can’t fix the hardware problems then I will pull the trigger on a return.
I dont know its easier to return it to amazon and just get my money back… Maybe one day I will buy a new one… By the way, what is the reason to pay for the PLUS if the camera is not working…another money grab, unless they fix it real quickly, How long as this problem been occurring for ??
It very well may be with their no hassle returns. Isn’t it like 90 days?
I have Plus on all my cams, but I also have an Unlimited subscription with 27 cams enrolled so every new cam I get will be assigned.
The CP benefit for me is, in order of precedence:
- No 5 minute Cooldown
- Full Length Video
- Person Detection Push Notifications
I already have all my cams on Smart Plugs scheduled to power cycle daily on a rolling schedule because I learned long ago when I first started that cams go offline MUCH less frequently when they have a fresh boot up on board. The PanV3 just seems to be more succeptible.
I don’t have any problems at all with my PanV3 going offline. But I am also running them on a Wyze Mesh Router Pro 3 node WiFi Network which was specifically designed, configured, and optimized to run Wyze iOT on the 2.4 GHz band. The brand, design, purpose, and configuration of the WiFi router has a massive impact on how well the cams run.
My only issue with the PanV3 right now is the vertical drift from home position when Pan Scan or Track Motion is on. It makes it impossible to use Detection Zones and maintain a set FOV. For now, I am using all four of my PanV3 as fixed FOV cams and only using the PTZ manually when needed. This is still a great feature to have. It’s like a V3 that I can Pan and Tilt. But, I am waiting for the Vertical Drift issue to be fixed as I do want to utilize the Track Motion feature.
Both the Offline Freequency and the Vertical Drift have been reported since their initial release when I bought mine.
Ok thank you, at least now I know this is a Known issue, maybe keep it hoping a fix will be out soon… But wont be adding more until there is a fix… thanks
