Yes, you and thousands of us have been asking for this for a very long time. But that is going to be on the back burner as NEWER useless products enter the market from WYZE because if anyone here has any business sense, these owners are just simply expanding to do a HIGHER BID sell of the company. Just wait and see!
There’s a saying that comes to mind
To Focus on Everything is to Focus on Nothing
Wyze has a “new product” rash that requires ointment. Take the watch - inexpensive and not bad for the price. But it was made clear last year, that it was not going to be developed any further, or fulfill any user requirements.
I winder what other products are going to suffer the same fate. Scales, Safe, Vacuum, Floor Lamp, Wyze Car, etc? The point being made, was that Wyze spends too much time and effort on new gizmos, and doesn’t do enough on their core products. The App is pretty bad, Web View is a total joke, and customer support is not that great when it comes to anything seriously technical.
I believe they lack good design and software engineers. The software needs to be as good as the hardware - people like Wyze prices, but Wyze is now a mainstream provider and should act like it.
Wow, you work for Wyze? I agree about price, and I’ve had no trouble with replacements. It’s their management that sucks - they do not do the appropriate R&D, Sales, and Support.
Perhaps they are moving to a new business model, such as this (
)
This is the last chance I’m giving Wyze to improve their current lineup. Especially the Sense V1. I don’t want **** that requires a hub nor do I want to replace my sensors. While I understand the fundamental hardware issues, that’s not an excuse to leave the cloud trigger portion unfixed for a year and a half.
I have other posts about my sense routines which haven’t been working for almost two years.
I expect Wyze to revisit old issues posted here in this forum and take a serious look at their infrastructure. This current practice of slapping **** together to make it work and not looking back makes Wyze look like a cheap Chinese company.
There’s nothing wrong with manufacturing products in China however, my Wyze experience now is much different than my experiences in 2019. I’d love for Wyze to go back to how they operated there when they actually cared.
Don’t let me down Wyze, I’ve been extremely patient. Let this be a good year for Wyze.
6 months ago all I said was great things. The customer service overseas has nothing but the same scripted troubleshooting methods. Don’t try to get warranty replacement! They can’t help with that.
Yeah, and they don’t really know much about their products that isn’t in the ad write-up on the website
Interesting but personally my priorities are still their core products residential cams, sensors and lights.
There are 100s if not 1000s of Dashcans on the market at a wide range of prices and functionality.
I did glance at the Ring Dash pre-order for $250.
I personally want to thank all the readers and customers here for saving me $$ money $$ here. I was just about to purchase 25 cams for my property but, now I will hold off till I read good things on the forum about the fixes that should be done. I personally know what it takes in software development and it sounds like they do not have the staff level of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) as well as the staff educated on their products too! Thanks again. Capt. Rob
I am so conflicted about WYZE right now. The lack of log in security, basic features like being able to see if another person is logged into the system or a warning when the power is shut down is NUTS. Right now I don’t know if my stalker is ligers in getting to see all my movements or is the system is protecting me. These features are on so many free apps, it’s causing me more stress than feeling safe.
If you turn on two factor login and your not sharing your camera with anyone. I don’t se how someone is getting into your account. As for the cameras going off line. Your right that should show in the logs, but I have good news. Another way exists to see if the camera was off-line. If you have a memory card in your camera and you have 24/7 recording on. (An option that everyone who is worried about security should be using.) When the timeline shows up you will see little white gaps in the green timeline when the camera was off-line. If you see one sold green bar as you scroll back you know your camera was always online.
Hi Capt. Rob,
Sadly I don’t think this conversation saved you any money. The Wyse camera’s are not perfect to be sure. But for the price point you really are hard pressed to find a better option.
When you go to that many cameras using any system that has a cost for on-line storage and events per camera is going to get very fast quickly. Wyze $99 a year for unlimited cameras is one of the lowest cost options for people who have that many cameras. The other option would be to use one of the systems where you have a server that saves all the video to a computer in your house. Then you have to setup something to allow remote access if you want that.
Building a solution that allows you access to a server in your house remotely and doing it in a secure way to not put your home network at risk is not trivial.
I looked high and low before I picked Wyze and while again I don’t think it is perfect. They have been quick to replace any cameras that I had any issues with for free and the total cost of ownership has been the lowest one for the features and functionality provided.
That said it is impossible to know if it is the right choice for you. But whatever you pick I would just buy ONE camera test it out for yourself and never recommend anyone to buy 25 of anything assuming it is what you need.
Good luck.
While I appreciate what you are saying, I really have to disagree. The core of Wyze’s products, short of the cute stuff that many don’t care about them communicating, is home security and security automation. Saying that basically, “you get what you pay for”, is saying that the products fail to meet their intended purpose. The systems aren’t being marketed to watch the bird’s nest in your yard or just to keep us lazy so we can turn things on and off while sitting on the couch ten feet away.
Two quick examples of failures: Out walking the dog, Amazon delivers a package to the house. The door has both a doorbell and an outside cam. No notification and no recording. First thought might be that my network was down. Problem with that theory is that my third pretty cheap Chinese camera sent me the notification right away. And two continuous monitors showed no disconnects from the network. Hmm, okay, isolated incident, stuff happens. Except, it wasn’t an isolated incident, it happened a few times a week. Along with doorbell and camera notifications that were delayed long enough to be useless; as much as a few minutes after the event.
The straw for me was the plugs last year turning into bricks. Lights stuck on or off with no way to communicate with them short of getting on a plane to go “reset” them. The cheapest junk IoT stuff I have has built-in network resets to prevent that issue.
I was very close to switching everything to Wyze. I had a bunch of plugs, 6 cameras, and a box of switches; thinking I would go with the lock and thermostats, etc. so it would all be on one system. I’m glad I opted not to do so. Yes, the other locks and thermostats cost more, however they are (and need to be) 100% reliable.
Sure, it’s a bargain and I could buy more Wyze cams to watch the existing cams, but if their software/server is a one and done, then fail, it wouldn’t matter. Or I could put other plugs/switches resetting the Wyze hardware but that’s just dumb.
The New Year’s message is encouraging in that they recognize the issues, but I’m going to wait and see if that message is supported by actions.
I have only had ONE wyze failure to notify in 3 years.
I have had to many to count a few other brands. So I haven’t experienced that issue but I agree with you if I had I would consider it a big problem.
I assume you have continuous recording on so you can send Wyze the video and they should be able to inform you what went wrong and they should be able to fix that.
I don’t think this is a trivial issue or acceptable.
I also have see the same issue on far more expensive units.
I think switching everything to ANY brand is very dangerous.
My biggest gripe is Wyze is not part of Home Kit. Almost everything else I have is part of Home Kit. The main reason I like Home Kit is because if the company who makes the device goes out of business the device will still work. All Home Kit devices run on Apple Cloud infrastructure and may also run on a vendor cloud server as well.
A great example of this is the company iHome went out of smart home devices. So the App I used to control the plugs stopped working, as did the Google Home Support and the Alexa support. But they still work fine in Home Kit. I can still install them remove them or do everything in Home Kit.
If you have Wyze, devices or all other non home kit devices once the company who makes them goes out of business you have NOTHING. You can flash Wyze cameras to IP cameras I guess but that is a totally different use case.
I have to agree they are totally useless as security devices!!!
I pay for a subscription on my Wyze doorbell and it tells me there were no events But my Eufy camera that is 20 feet farther away from the events shows me people walking right by it and I have no recording it all of them on my Wyze subscription and when Wise does record someone walking by they are halfway by before the recording starts so all you see is their backs walking away unlike the Eufy cameras that show the recording 10 seconds before the event starts
The 3 Wyze floodlights I bought are also junk i have to completely shut them off because they just keep turning themselves on and off all night no matter how the sensitivity levels and detection zones are set
Bottom line is Eufy is way better and doesn’t change a yearly fee
Also Wize is charging us to monitor our security system that we have never been able to get to work so it’s not even connecting with the monitoring company yet they are still charging us and tech support couldn’t get it to work either after wasting hours with trying to fix the junk
And Wyze doesn’t care at all they don’t even respond to messages
It’s sounded good when Wyze started as an alternative brand. It’s the Walmart of products and you do get what you pay for. I would not trust Wyze to monitor a doghouse let alone my house. Support for their products
so I know follow this train wreck of an company.
I wish I read these reviews first then I wouldn’t be stuck with a bunch of Wyze junk !
It’s not wise to buy Wyze save your money and time spend a little more with a good company and get something that actually works
I bought security system, floodlights and cameras from Wyze and they are all junk none of them work like they are supposed to
Wyze doesn’t care they can’t even be bothered to reply to messages or even try to help their customers
I predict finally moving into the 5ghz space. 2.4ghz is becoming a problem with so many devices now in the space especially with cloud uploads and cam plus. That’s what my money is on. ![]()
