I would assume Wyze will handle this like any other company. Simplisafe does not allow Rings sensors, and CPI will not support ADT’s gear. Very few companies support another companies hardware with a very few exceptions.
As far as installation and repair again I am willing to bet the experience will be similar to any number of companies, Ring, Simpli Safe, Abode, and so forth. It’s either self install or you can hire an installer. A number of professional installers in my area will install those and other systems.
Yes, @ricklwright besides the fact that you leave yourself open to spider spammers and many other such problems by leaving personal information, it is technically against the community guidelines to “sign your post” anyway:
You could leave your name and number in your profile, but I’d still recommend against that. Only include personal info in an official support ticket (this is mostly just a user forum).
Any more info on who the monitoring company will be? Will it work in tandem with existing alarm systems, or only with a new hub or base? Also, what kind of frequencies does it broadcast on for the sensors?
Usually it’s in an email signature. A lot of people don’t even realize their mobile email clients are doing it. Verizon is notorious for sticking your phone number in a signature.
Do we have any info on who will be doing the monitoring? Does the customer have a choice of monitoring companies or is it a partnership with a monitoring company that Wyze has/is working on? Also, any idea of when this will happen and approx costs? Also, which hardware will it work with? Most people would tie the monitoring in with their alarm panels i would assume, so, is this going to work with existing alarm panels?
Speaking for myself, using my android phone uses the battery and allows me to have enough power to use it for about 2/3 a day. Without the cam storage my phone only needs charging every third day.
Wyze has a partnership with Noonlight who provides the 24/7 monitoring service for a fee. Looks like for now, there isn’t an option for non-monitoring… well at least I have not seen anything that would indicate a stand alone option.
Will there be recurring fees?
Yes. A professional monitoring experience is required to provide the peace of mind intended with Wyze Home Monitoring – no matter where you are, 24/7. This comes with a cost. We will price the service reasonably as we have always done.
If the responce time decreases and false alerts drastically decrease, self monitoring is what started Wyze.
At it’s core Wyze had people wanting monitoring and then automation inexpensive and reliable with no reoccurringcost. I will give it to Wyze they keep upgrading firmware and products so one day responce time and false alerts will drastically drop.
But I think Wyze is forgetting about the non reoccurring fees people did not want! When I join Wyze they were talking about NAS and lost that like the AI. So what foes Wyze do. Well NAS would not be incurring constant fees so drop that and let’s charge for our services.
I have a lot invested in the Wyze family but I am starting to back off a little, why, me personally I see them becoming another ADT and that is not what I want.
My cameras are so bad that today I was waiting 2 to 3 hours for pictures to show on my computer!!! I could watch a camera in real time but ‘event’ mode was 3 hours!! Makes my cameras worthless. Someone make me an offer!! My WYZE cameras are for sale!!~~~John
Depending on your wifi connection speed and stability (level of interference from other wifi routers/devices) which all can lead to a degradation of quality of service. You may wnat to install an app like Wifi Analyzer (on the play store) to you see what interference you may be running into and also to advise on the best channel for an already connected AP…
Also have you tried lowering each of the cameras to 360 instead of sd/hd?
I bought my cameras two years ago and they worked perfectly then. The last year in particular has seen them just become worthless! Not a lot invested in my 4 cameras but they worked so good when I bought them that I highly recommended them to several friends and even bought some for relatives. The direction WYZE is taking has made my cameras worthless! If they would have just left the original program alone would have been great! And then develop programs for anyone who wanted to"expand" is the direction I wish they had taken! Now I have to look for another in-expensive, self contained camera that I can watch my kitties with and enjoy!~~~j
Totally agree, "Person Detection worked flawlessly when i 1st purchased my cams almost 2 yrs ago, then the AI went awry, along with a billion excuses & forum discussions and temp fixes, it rarely captured persons accurately, Now, Person Detection is monetized…with a “name your price” option. Very dissappointed with this de-evolution.
I hope that when Wyze Home Monitoring launches you will be able to bundle with services like CamPlus so you can have Person Detection, CMC, and Monitoring for one monthly/yearly price.
I would also like the Noonlight guards to be able to watch event footage of our select cameras that we allow access too so they can determine if an event is a real emergency or not. I would like them to automatically dispatch the police for something like a person on your property who shouldn’t be there or someone breaking into your house.
