Wyze solar panel need help with attachment to base

I hope the pictures uploaded ok. I just purchased a new solar panel for one of my outdoor cameras. Now I’m usually pretty handy but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to attach the panel to its base. It looks like I’m either missing some pieces or the base has a problem. There is no way to get the ball into the base so that it’s attached! I’ve looked for videos and there are some but all are for a different style of base. Please help? If I can’t attach the panel to its base I’ll just have to return it. I have no other way to mount it to the wall.

Here is my take:

  1. The Silver ball needs to go through the small white cap on the table.
  2. the pendent / Stand would then screw into that white cap and when you tighten it, the solar panel will not move.

Now the question is how do you get the silver ball out of the panel. I believe it screws in. If not, the star looking part below the silver ball looks like you can turn it to release the silver ball.

make sense?

As @spamoni says, it definitely looks like they forgot to put the collar around the silver ball before attaching the silver ball to the panel. See if you can easily unscrew the silver ball, then put it through the collar (with the threads/larger end facing away from the panel) then screw it back in. Then you can just screw the base on like was originally intended.

EDIT - as @spamoni also said, I just checked the instructions and you do indeed loosen/remove that star shaped nut in order to remove the silver ball.

So basically take the silver ball and star nut off, remove the star nut from silver ball. Slide the collar nut on as I described, thread the star nut back on, then thread the whole thing into the back of the panel.

Panel → star nut → collar nut → silver ball → base

I get what you’re saying but that one nut is too large. The ball just falls right out of it. The holes on both sides are just too big…? Anyone have a picture of how they did this?
Does the base stem need to have the end cut off? There appears to be something up inside of it, see originally posted pics…or am I missing a washer or something? Thx.

Just got off the phone with support. Sent them video and pictures and sure enough…there is a problem with this model. The nut is way too large for the ball.
They are sending me a replacement. Hopefully, not with the same issue. Fingers crossed.

Yeah sorry it was not clear from the original photos that the ball was smaller than the opening in the nut, they definitely got some pieces mixed up in there.

Hey, if they don’t ask for the original back, you have a spare (or could find a way to mount it some other way).

Indeed. Glad to know I’m not crazy! LOL. Exactly. If they don’t ask for it back, I can use it somehow. Thanks a bunch for your time and help! JJ

Welp, the replacement arrived and INDEED has the missing piece! They didn’t ask for the other one back so I will find a way to use it on one of my other outside cameras.

If you figure out the diameter of the ball can probably find a generic compression mount on amazon that would work, or just rig it up to something. Zip tie around the base of the ball.

3D print it![1]
