Same issue. Lost power to ons plug and wasn’t able to get back online. I had a second plug that was plugged in but not controlling anything so I attempted to swap this one for the first. After unplugging the second device I haven’t been able to get it back online as well ..ran through all the troubleshooting tips..nothing worked..zip..zero…zilch…nada..niente… these are both pre 2021 (v1) devices (model WLPP1)…
This is definitely widespread. I just had a power outage and both of my V1s are now offline and neither will connect after all of the steps previously mentioned. I’m done with wifi plugs, bulbs, and any other wifi connected “smart” home device.
It’s NOT a router issue!!! Wyze tech support is full of CR@P!!! and doesn’t know a damned thing about how wireless works! Hence why new plugs use BlueThooth to set up!
These cr@ppy V1 units, once you do the hold the button in, become their own tiny AP (Access Point for NOOBS) thst broadcasts itself, asking for any device to join.
Upon initial setup of the V1 units, first you set your phone to Airplane mode, but then turn you wireless back on. This should kill the phone/Data side so it can’t reach anything there.
Then in the Wyze APP, you select your home wireless network. The next step you then select said device in your list of available wireless networks. This will remove your wireless from your home network then join the plugs little wireless network.
At this point, there should be a mini 2 IP network betyween the plug wireless AP and your phone. Hwever, I believe that isn’t happening with the latest firmware. Checking what IP addres the plug has it’s 192.168.4.1 and I see my iPhone has acquired 192.168.4.2 Using a Ping app on my iP{hone, it searches onm the known subnet 192.168.4.xxx and finds 192.168.4.1 which responds to pings. So, we can see the iPhone can reach the plug’s IP however the POS lug’s firmware isn’t allowing it to respond back!
I believe the Wyze NOOBS [Mod Edit] up on last update and left some kind of handshaking after connmection between the plug and the iPhone Wyze APP, thus not allowing the setup to continue. After a while it times out and asks you to try again.
So sadly, if your Wyze plugs are running firmware 1.2.0.80, there’s a good chance your screwed the next time you unplug it for a long duration. BTW: WHY are the V2 plugs running a lower firmware version - 1.2.0.239 ? Anyone at Wyze care to speak up?
I’d prove this further with a wireless sniffer and time, however, I retired from network support and network security 3 years ago and presonally, I just don’t feel like messing with this right now. I may look into it later as I currently have two V1 AP’s that are dead and now only good for target practice at 100 yards…
Or maybe crack one open and see if it has a SPI interfce and actually see what the POS is doing…
Meanwhile, I’ll just keep an eye out for future sales on the plugs - probab;ly what the Wyze jerks really want us to do….

Not the first time an update broke some functionality, amateurs.
So… same issue here. Has anyone heard from a Wyze rep yet? One that acknowledges they pushed a bad update? Mistakes happen… but it’s been multiple days without an update from them it seems.
New day, new vendor, new plugs. I am sorry Wyze but I am giving up. Time to move on …
Probably reading this forum to see how many people will be pissed off if nothing happens. <20 (less than 20 people) Wyze: Discontinue device, not too many people will be mad loll
1,000+ Wyze: K let’s fix it.
Sorry, I replied to the wrong person.
All, check out this thread, too. Wyze Bulb v1 is also having issues. CS said not to remove from the app.
Wyze Bulb White V1 EOL? Killed? Forced offline? - #15 by ssummerlin
Have you heard back from Wyze at all?
They should’ve announced the service outage for those plugs, at least.
I am sure more users wasting their time by resetting device, phone, app, and WiFi router.
I have not, but I’ve been watching this topic and seeing the number of affected users grow and was planning to poke again. Then a few minutes ago I noticed that my Plug’s light was off, and when I opened the app and refreshed the Home screen I saw that it’s back online. I can currently toggle it on and off with the app again.
Is anyone else having this experience now?

My plugs are working again.
Good to know. Thank you for taking the time to post an update! ![]()
Wyze fixed it - plugs are now working
It is now fixed. I called CS and they took my log. Haven’t heard from them but it is now fixed. Something about the IP addresses they were using.
Yikes!
Yep. OP here. All fixed and setup in 5 seconds!
@IOT_tester, why is your most recent reply in code? The vertical scroll makes reading a little difficult and seems unnecessary. ![]()
