Wyze Contact Sensor Garage Door Placement?

That looks like a Samsung sensor - which can be used as a tilt sensor so the magnet part is NOT needed.

It is, but I have since changed it out to a Wyze sensor for ease since all my other house contacts are Wyze. Use the same hinge though.

I am doing the opposite - replacing all my Wyze products with other brands (ones that actually work without constant attention).
With a little luck I will be free of Wyze products in a few months. Can’t buy everything at once.

Well poop. I’m sure we’ll miss ya…

Kind of how one would miss the festering boil on ones bottom - :sob:

I’ve printed all the version here and I have to say it works really well. Took a bit to “undo” as it’s printed one piece but it does come apart. Used a strong double sided tape and mounted to garage…thanks for design & file

I bought a couple of these and they work well and are easy to install:

OK, one more input. Below are photos of my garage door setup, works great for me. Gives me status of the door position in the Wyze app, and I use IFTTT to trigger a TP-Link HS-200 switch, which controls the garage lights. On TP-Link’s app, I use a Smart Action to control a second set of two twin LED tube lights that are on a socket controlled with a TP-link smart plug.

Only problem I encountered is that if the garage door is left open for long periods, it causes the magnet on the Wyze sensor to sag down, as the double-sided tape Wyze uses is has a foam core. Used isopropyl to remove the Wyze foam tape and used Gorilla double-sided tape, no more sag, and more reliable switching

I’m not real handy with tools and such so I just stuck the two parts of the sensor on the border of the two lowest panels of the garage door. I stuck them on as far apart as I could so the app showed as “closed” when the door was down. On my door when it is open these two sections have a gap of maybe an inch and that trips the sensor to report “open”. No tools needed.

Nice! I placed my hinge thing at the top, so when the hinge seperated, I knew the door was open even a little bit and when it showed closed, it would be could be open no more than a few inches.

Understand that. I always have the feeling I forgot to close the door after I’m about a mile or two away and often drive back to check. Hoping one day soon Wyze comes up with a wifi transmitter for garage doors.

I have mine on a swinging hinge, I get notifications when it opens and when it closes

Mine is on the side with the Magnet on the side of the door and the sensor on the wood jam. Works like a champ.

I purchased this from Etsy and put it on the door - worked great:

However, I had to take it down because the last Garage door Opener I had was a little choppy when opening, it would swing alot and I would get constant Open and Close Alerts while it was opening or closing.

Thanks. That is really cool and simple.

and it was worth the $3.

I am goign to have to look into a 3D printer. Some of the items Etsy has for Wyze on their site is amazing.

Hey Spamoni4,

sorry my bracket didn’t end up working for you. I have an idea to fix it with your situation. Maybe it wont be worth your time if you found another solution. But maybe try some small string or yarn or maybe twine and lace it through the hinge. Then tie it them together around the back. Make sure the hinge can still swing but that it has a little resistance to slow it down and not swing back and forth.

I’ve been running the same bracket since March 2020… still works great! My door opens smoothly though.

actually, it worked great. it is an impressive device. I have since replaced my garage door and tracks. The issue was mine and not yours. Matter of fact, I recommend the bracket to anyone who asks.
