These are the most frustrating cameras around. I bought 3 of them. Worked great for a few months, now total crap. All went off line about a week apart and I can get none of them working. On gets intermittent power and two get no power. I only used them inside. I did drop and it never worked after that. My bad. The other two cameras … I have no clue why they decided to quit. Tried every type of reset. NOTHING!
Have you tried a different power adapter? Any USB adapter rated 1000mA or higher (750 would probably work too) will work. Could have been a power surge or similar.
Wyze adapters are marginally usable. Try getting some 2.3 amp multiple port and use only one port. Usually about $4 or so each. Makes a difference.
So far I haven’t had one go bad yet but I’m lucky enough to have pretty clean and reliable power.
That may be the key. It seems our area has many power outages. Most not long but maybe that is what fries them. Google cameras seem fine. Just the Wyze ones seem to die???
Test the power supply first, sometimes those are the “sacrificial lamb” and the camera may be fine. But a big spike can work through and get to the device itself.
If you have frequent outages, a higher quality USB power supply may be in order for the future - they aren’t that expensive but some of the bigger brand names like Anker are a bit more robust.
Some here have even found USB battery banks that act as sort of a UPS for the cameras so they’ll stay online during outages, not sure if it is that important for you, but they weren’t all that expensive.
A decent quality dual port 3.0 to 3.4 amp should be able to handle 2 cams with overhead too. Might even be able to do 2 pan cams as long as both aren’t panning and having the spotlight etc on at the same time, but might be pushing it.
Honestly given my power is very reliable I haven’t had a need to replace the Wyze ones, but if/when the time comes, I’ve actually found a couple of the Amazon Basics ones to be very reliable (running a family member’s video birdfeeder for 2+ years in extreme temps, inside of a waterproof box), and I use Anker ones for various things too. Some have reported the apple ones seem to be very robust too.
If the Wyze ones end up burning my house down, eh, I’m ready for a redesign anyway. Would be ironic if the cams warned me of the smoke alarms that one of them had caused…… (Yes, Alanis, THAT is what irony means).
