Has anyone experimented with adding a 25mm or 50mm telephoto lens on the Wyze Cam Pan v4? I’m wondering what the space / gap distance is when it is in privacy mode since this would impact how far outside the original case the new lens can be. Thoughts?
I have not, but my concern with the available space/tolerance has nothing to do with Privacy Mode, because I rarely use that: Every time you recalibrate, restart, or power cycle this device, it’s going to move the actual camera box into that “Privacy Mode” position.
It’s an interesting question, though. When I use a digital caliper to measure the distance from where the lens housing protrudes to the other “box” I’m seeing ~11.4 mm.
Thanks. I do like privacy mode but wish there was s way to turn off ghe camera without having the lens move. Anyway, 50mm lens connects fine and is working. But, as you indicated, there’s not enough space for the down privacy position.
That’s cool to know that you’ve tried and that you’re getting good images from it. If the lens is getting in the way of the camera’s downward tilt limit, then I hope that isn’t mucking up the internal mechanism when it power cycles or recalibrates.
I don’t use Privacy Mode unless I’m powering a Cam Pan (v3 or v4) down to unplug it and move it somewhere else, but I think a good case could be made for restricting that movement if someone wanted to safely turn one of those Cams off but not have the portion with the lens move. I know there’s a Wishlist topic requesting user-configurable motion limits for tracking, but I haven’t seen a request like that for Privacy Mode. Of course, if you’re swapping lenses and that’s impeding the Cam’s normal range of motion, then you’ve already voided the warranty anyway, so you’re pretty much on your own at that point.
