They’re moths.
Interesting on the chickadee attacking the camera. My birds have been sitting on the camera before hopping to the bird feeder, as well as the handle of the tripod!
Dang tree rats. Not a bad shot for only having one good eye
Update - turned the sensitivity down to zero and got some alerts - as long as they were on the close edge of the birdbath…
What did you shoot it with? Doesn’t look like he got hurt.
I actually found out, by careful research and documentation, that they are Crane Flies. I eventually set traps by the cameras and got a video of the flier going into the trap.
I have a lot of footage where the shadow show the bird stop on top of the camera before hitting the feeder.
I really like to see all of the alternate uses for Wyze cameras here and on other threads, I am really looking forward to Wyze Feeder Cam v1.0 coming out sometime soon. I would rather buy a finished product than take it apart to replace and refocus lenses. The market is here, give us our cameras.
‘stuck’ ? ![]()
Same here. Just glad they’re not pooping on it. ![]()
22 caliber Crosman CO2 air pistol at 30 feet.
Wife found it in the driveway later that day. Picked it up and put it in the field behind our house. Saw a hawk circling overhead a few hours later.
Strange thing I have had zero squirrels in the back yard since. The deceased squirrel is at least 500 feet from the house so the odor probably isn’t keeping them away. Maybe the unlucky squirrel alerted the other squirrels? I know they are darn smart.
Wow. By the looks of it running off like that I would’ve though he had lived to see another day.
A sparrow is starting to stack twigs on top of one of my WCOs. It is only 5’6" feet off the ground, but is within 3 feet of both the upper and lower desk feeders. It is wide open now, but will be in full shade when the leaves come in. If I leave it, I will not be able to recharge the batteries without disrupting the nest.
The Wyze solar panel for the outdoor camera has a 13 foot cable. Perhaps you could find a spot facing east that doesn’t get shade
If the solar panel is not an option, you could swap the WOC for a v3 and run constant power to it. All of my outdoor v3 cameras are connected to long microUSB
cables.
Another option would be to connect a rechargeable USB power bank to the WOC and use a long enough cable to be able to remove it for charging without disturbing the birds.
I run 24V to my V3 and convert it to 5V near the camera with a dashcam adapter in a waterproof box.
It’s probably bad form to post something so popular and I resisted for a few days but now relent:

I’ve seen that guys squirrel videos.
I saw that in the other reply and thought how realistic it looked. I had forgotten how an airgun worked.
I know the feeling. I was watching a wren outside the window by the bird feeder today. I was on the opposite end of my comfy 3 person swing. I was wondering why it was just sitting there with a mouthful of nesting material. I wondered why it didn’t fly off to build its nest. Then it dropped down behind the swing. I ran to the kitchen window to see where it went and couldn’t see it. Then it appeared at the closer end of the swing between the swing back and cushions (without the nesting material). I do swing on it, so I had to go out there anyway to put the cushions up because we might get rain, and wipe out the stuff in there, including a few seeds.
