Wyze Cam on a Birdfeeder

BUCK BREAKS BRACKET ! A couple of young bucks eating off the birdfeeder, Once turns around and casually knocks the Wyze Cam Outdoor off the tree. No More Plastic Brackets at that height.

Squirrel Tail WOC. Notion detection by squirrel pass only catches his tail as he pauses.

On my larger feeder platform, the larger birds tend to ā€œdrop inā€ rather than ā€œfly and landā€. Here are a couple of Blue Jays. They are in IR night vision because it is just before sunset on the shaded side of the house.

You might want to check out the Birdsy camera. Bit more pricey but you can focus it, it is weatherproof, and you can also livestream.

Which cam V3?

The Birdsy camera is not a Wyze, sorry for the confusion. It is a camera that records birds and wildlife in particular, using AI for identification and recording. I have two and love them. I use my Wzye for nestboxes and to monitor when Hummingbirds start to arrive, or to check if elsewhere in my backyard something fun is happening, so I know where to put the good camera.

Which cam, and what is the distance from lens to birds? Focus looks good.

Hey KayTel, This video is just a static image (Wyze date/time overlay not advancing) on both Chrome and Firefox for me. Even downloaded it and played in VLS with same results…

Huh??

The ā€˜doves resting’ plays for you? May be me, then. :man_shrugging:

(VLC Media Player not VLS)

@callmechaz

It appears to be a video, but there is only one frame.

V3 I opened and refocused. The camera is mounted at the end of the shelf. The far end of the shelf is 22 inches.

V3 that I opened and changed focus.

Not sure what’s up. It was a regular MP4 from the V3. I’ll take a look at it.

I deleted the resting doves. Here it is again. Not much to see. They’re resting, after all.

Watch closely just at the end of this clip. As the dove lowers her heard, a double image stays up. This lasted for about 3 seconds then the video froze. I had to power cycle the camera.

A frame by frame of a cardinal takeoff including a ā€œone wing waveā€ that should make for a good meme somewhere. An artist friend loves the spanned feather frames. She has asked me to collect them so that she can use them as painting references.

A much better set of images here. The lighting and bird speed were just perfect. In gymnastics, they talk about the gymnast holding a landing. This Blue Jay gets a 9.0.

OK, Last one for today. About camera distance. Here is a Mourning Dove in the shadow of the V3 Camera.

Ok kids. I moved one of my two outdoor cams to my bird bath - about a foot away, so everything is in focus, I think. Obviously I’d love to get alerts from birds at the bath, like this one:

Instead, I’m only getting alerts for ā€œpetsā€ at the bath, like this:

Not exactly what I want (not to say it’s not cute, but I want to see the birds moreso than the squirrels). I’ve jacked the sensitivity all the way up to 100 - because my thought is that the cam needs to be super sensitive to catch tiny birds flying in and out. Do I have that backwards? Does it need to be all the way down to get these little fliers?
