WYZE bulb / HomeKit

It’s not going to come, ever, as far as I’m concerned.

I’ve started looking for solutions elsewhere, and on that path started a company dedicated to developing and bringing the kind of cameras and HomeKit products to all of us. Send me a PM or email if interested in a company dedicated to just HomeKit customers.

The bulb, sensors and plugs do have the API open. You can use HOOBS to add those to HomeKit as a work around

Wyze, just kill the dream already. How is stringing us along for 2+ years better than just saying “at this time we don’t have the engineering resources to support HomeKit”?!!!

I gave up waiting long ago.

All my WYZE Bulbs Regular and Color and Plugs work in home assistant, thanks to Joshua Mullken’s Integration.

WYZE Motion and Contact Sensors Work Also, but I switched to the Aqara Brand for those.

I’ve given up on WYZE a long time ago - I don’t even buy any of their products anymore. Why would I, as an Apple consumer, waste my money on a company that defiantly doesn’t support my platform. Instead I started a company that does, and will provide those products that WYZE won’t.

I understand the cameras have a hardware limitation. Any update on homekit support for bulbs and other accessories?

I hope you guys are not underestimating the amount of sales you’d get from offering homekit support. It’s probably worth more than one engineer.

I wanted to buy some color smart bulbs today. I went to wirecutter and saw wyze bulbs were their pick, saw they were still not homekit compatible and spent twice as much for some other brand bulbs that have worse color and brightness. I’ve been a big fan of wyze products in the past but decided on homekit for personal security reasons. Can’t wait to spend some more money once you guys support homekit!

They won’t.

This conversation has been going on for years, and all we’ve received have been wishy-washy replies from WYZE representatives in this forum. I’ve given up expecting HomeKit support from WYZE, ever.

There’s hope that, maybe, they are smart enough to support MATTER, now that this standard has been ratified and released, and pretty much the entire smartHome industry has pledged support for it (Apple’s ‘Home’ app will support it within a future iOS 16 update) - but, honestly, I’m not holding my breath.

I’ve simply started buying everything elsewhere, from other vendors - EUFY makes great HomeKit cameras, and Meross, Refoss, WeMo and EVE have great switches, lightbulbs, plugs, LED strips, etc…

You can also install a HomeBridge bridge using a cheap Raspberry Pi mini-computer, if you are technically inclined, as a sort of adapter to WYZE products, but honestly, I prefer not to throw good money (and effort) at companies that don’t support what I need, when there are enough out there that do.

We are a participant in Matter, which can be found here.

I notice that you (@WyzeJasonJ) have avoided stating that WYZE is actually committed to supporting matter. This is the same sort of deflective response we have been receiving for years, previously. (ie “WYZE is a registered Apple developer and is aware of the HomeKit specifications” etc).

So, no offense, but I’m not holding my breath until an actual WYZE product supports MATTER. Has WYZE ever supported THREAD?

I figured showing that we are a partner would state that. We also have many posts here stating that we are supporting Matter.

Here is one of the posts in the HomeKit thread.

Would be a great update for wyze. It would as said by many that it would bring a lot of money so wyze could continue to upgrade and manufacture more smart devices. Hopefully wyze will be aggressive in deciding to make matter for wyze devices.
