Not a peep out of Wyze in nearly a week.
An update for Wyze Android today. Updated my phones v29.62 but still not my tablets. Interestingly I checked my iPad. I realize the versions will be different but the odd thing is the IOS app said the app was posted yesterday. (Iām not good with my iPad so maybe I read this wrong). It asked me to update it (v2.9.56) but it is not listed on the screen that shows me recently updated apps. This list go back to March 19th. Donāt know what that means. Perhaps someone that is comfortable with iPads can explain. App is still listed in Appleās App store.
Iām giving them the benefit of the doubt because of this virus stuff. Last week I was invited to a āZoomā meeting before they officially announced the scale and band. It appeared they were all working from home.
I opened a ticket on this issue on March 15th. This thread looks like it started on the 17th. I donāt believe anyone at Wyze even considered this a real issue until WyzeGwendolyn asked us about it on the 27th. (I think it was the 27th.) So 4 days isnāt really much time to resolve this. I too am disappointed with the overall response. But as WyzeGwendolyn said, "We didnāt do this on purpose. "
The app was saying I longer supported for my Samsung Tab A update needed. Couldnāt find an update waiting so I uninstalled. Now, I canāt find it in play store.
Whatās going on? On beta

This?
Could be the problem, but WHY?
Is there an answer?
Wyze is in the know about the issue, and I am guessing working feverishly on it because alot of tablets are affected. Lots of posts in that thread about a possible why, so take time to read through the research done by the community members on here. If you think that is your issue, Iād continue your posting over there so that there isnāt two convos going anout that topic in the forums. Kept it all in one place. A mod may merge this post with that thread eventually.
I have faith in Wyze that it will be fixed. They do great work. My initial searching failed to locate any information, this my post. Thank you for pointing me to this thread.
If you need the Wyze app on your tablet you can sideload it. There is enough information in this thread to get you through the procees. Itās easy.
You could be wsiting for a long time for Wyze to fix the problem.
how do U fake it as LG
Thank you! Never heard of APK Mirror before now. I was able to successfully download the Wyze app to my Galaxy Tab A.
First, I donāt recommend that you do it. It can go wrong. I did it as an experiment.
Your tablet has to be rooted. Then sideload an app called Market Helper.
It is much easier and safer to just sideload the Wyze app.
I donāt know if anybody else experienced this but I was using the Memu emulator for my cams and the Wyze app disappeared. This part I know you have suffered from. The next part is this. I also have the problem with 100% cpu usage with multi Memu and six cams so I decided to try Bluestacks because a lot of folks say itās more lightweight. So, I installed it and just for grins I went to Google Play and guess what was there? The Wyze cam app. I guess they or somebody must have fixed the issue, I hope.
Are you using an Android tablet? I ask because Wyze app still does not show up in Play store for my tablets.
Thatās odd. Iām using a PC. Windows 10. Easier to view the cams on a 24 inch monitor. And since these cams arenāt RTSP compliant, unfortunately, I have to use an emulator, which worked fine for awhile then stopped working for downloading the app and now, mysteriously, works again.
It depends on how your emulator appears to the Play Store. If the Play Store sees the emulator as a phone that may be why you see the Wyze app.
For me, the Play Store in MEmu does not show the Wyze app.
Just got this from Wyze support:
. . . I understand that youāre having trouble downloading the Wyze app because of the compatibility issue. I just want to clarify that the recent app update (2.9) needs SMS permission, which is not available on some of the Android tablets. . . .
Well Iāve only had one course in Android programming but I believe you can set up permissions within the app for something that you may or may not need access to.
Would love to know from an experienced programmer if Iām right or wrong.
Under Wyzeās current thinking, all Android devices without SMS are no longer able to receive updates.
You are correct and I donāt trust the response from Wyze anyway.
You can have your app request permissions during install. So, if part of the requirements arenāt met it will still install but part may not function.
I suspect Wyze wants the fitness band to read SMS.
The reason I donāt trust the excuse is I have a Samsung Tab S with SMS capabilities. Itās seen as an incompatible device by the Play Store.
My LG GPad 7 may not respond affirmatively at the OS level for the capability/permission of SMS (donāt know for certain), but it does have Verizon SIM card support and is able to run the Message+ app from Verizon to send and receive SMS messages in parallel with my Verizon LG V20 phone. There is no difference in the operation of these two devices in that respect. The tablet is even capable of making and receiving voice calls just like the phone over the cellular or WiFi Data network. Even with that, the Play Store is calling out compatibility problems, and Wyze is grasping at straws, it would seem, to explain this deficiency. To restate, the Wyze app was working just fine with the most current version at the time until last week when I had to factory reset the device and reinstall everything. Please donāt blame the users on this one. Figure out what happened and remediate.
I am currently using v2.9.62 (sideloaded) on my Samsung (2018) Tab A. Everything works fine (I donāt have a scale or band). I wish there was someone at Wyze I could talk to that really understood this issue. I understand the front line support people are not the ones doing the programming but this is getting ridiculous.
