First one that popped to mind, if any. You can change it.
I miss Hopper. Doesnât seem like he should be gone.
But Caruso was the first one I thought of. It may change.
If you could either
- Write like Shakespeare
- Sing like Caruso
which would you choose?
A friend asked me this some forty years ago. He was a writer.
Me and my friends-
Love it.
Marlon Brando
Yeah, heâs up there. Good to have around.
Jesus would be interesting, but he doesnât fit any of the 4 categories.
Jack
Iâd argue he was an artist. lived artfullyâŚ
I have no answer, because no one deserves that punishment:
If Iâm just going with the first prompt for an actor, though, Iâll say that so far I can recall feeling an acute loss only twice when I learned about actorsâ deaths: Jack Lemmon and Phil Hartman. I think Hartman was taken way too soon in a messy tragedy, and Lemmon felt like he could always give more to his everyman body of work.
Is it the Shining Jack that should live forever, or the Jack composite of all his roles, or another role?
Or Jack the man sitting court-side in LA?
Or STFU .
Intriguing choices! I like! Both strong and real.
And a lot of tech moguls are begging for the punishment no one deserves.
China Town
One Flew Over the Cuckooâs Nest
As good as it gets
A few good men
To many other greats to list.
Yes! A lot of Jack in that! And that guy that used to do some strange pop triva show on cable turned out to be a good actor⌠And Paul Reiserâs âwifeâ⌠and the âRootsâ guy (I hope I have the right film )
(It wasnât the Roots guy, what a maroon, I canât remember what his first strong film wasâŚ)
If anyone chooses âwriterâ in the poll Iâll eat my shoe (like W. Herzog.) Few aspire to that these days, I thinkâŚ
I wasnât planning to vote, but if itâll get you to eat your âŚ.
If only Orwell could see what weâve become.
True that-and-a-half.
