I haven’t had any problem with my outdoor camera Concerning Weather, It’s Under the eaves, No other type of enclosure on it, It’s just stuck to the top of Porch light , been there over a year, in MI

I have had Wyze Cams outside, under eves with no other protection, since December 2017. Temperatures have ranged from -23°F to +120°F, winds to 60 mph, rains to torrential. Not in direct sunlight. No problems.

The real key to success to Wyze Cams (and all smart home devices for that matter) is to have a reliable power source and a good up-to-date WiFi system. What I mean by “a good up-to-date WiFi system” is a reliable known brand name WiFi Router, no combo modem/router or anything “provided” by your Internet Service Provider. My choices are Netgear, TP-Link, Linksys, and eero (mesh versions of these systems included). The router needs to be a model released in the last two years and you need to know how to keep its firmware and software up-to-date.

Bought two cams for my brother this Xmas. He lives up in northern Norway, and as you can see it’s working great, and the temperature up there (Celsius) is quite low now on his Netatmo

Well, my outdoor cam worked for a while over the winter, but the battery can’t survive chronic cold. it’s now dead and won’t take a charge. So not a good idea to leave it out all winter. i’m in Maryland.

Will likely try an indoor camera plugged in outside and protected from the wet.

Cold in MD. 340 mi south of here is nothing. :disappointed:

Compared to Southern New England Winters !

Now I am a little nervous, about setting up my Wyze Outdoor (Base Station) Cam.

For the distant N.E. Winter, 7 months away.

I wouldn’t leave a battery powered camera outside in a Northern winter. A fully charged battery is fine but a depleted one will freeze. Wyze Outdoor cameras weren’t meant to be in our outdoor weather.
I use V2 and Pan cams outside. Constant power keeps them warm enough to prevent the lens from fogging and freezing.

Thanks. you’d think that Wyze would warn consumers about leaving their outdoor camera in the outdoors. Seems a fatal flaw for this device, so it can’t be recommended at all.
