Having been on the receiving end of that kind of condescension upon first contact when sincerely asking for assistance is a matter of chicken vs egg. Any cynicism I now have was preceded and instigated by that kind of demeaning dismissal from that very respondent from the first time I posted video asking for advice regarding cam noise that CS ultimately admitted was a manufacturing defect. Thanks for the “help” but no thanks to that kind of help.
To be sure, I’ve had some constructive help from some of the diehards and I’ve picked up some enlightening info from some too. I misspoke when I poked fun at mavens generally. So I corrected my post. It would’ve been more accurate to use a different term but it wasn’t meant in all seriousness. But as I’ve said before, some people get a whole lot of leeway for joking around than others. There appears to indeed be a class system and depends on who your friends are and whether you’re part of the in-crowd. But being threatened with withholding of help for having offended the in-crowd is in itself childish.
