Hello! Which WYZE Cameras will still record even if Network connection is lost? Thanks!
I am 100% sure that V3 and V4 will do as I own both models.
Cam OG reportedly will, but in order to retrieve recordings that were made beginning 30 minutes after losing the Internet connection a user would have to pull the microSD card and look for them:
It seems it will reboot every 30 minutes (thus causing that symptom) so probably not the best setup, though reboots are fairly quick.
I dig. I’m not suggesting it for a use case where the ability for the camera to call home to the Wyze mothership might be frequently interrupted. I was just providing another answer to @coolrock’s question, at least as I understand it.
Yeah just clarifying for OP, since a different folder might not be as big of a deal as 30 minute reboots… It is an odd behavior, not sure why only the OG seems to do it. Luckily my power and internet are both very reliable so hasn’t been a problem.
I believe the Panv3 will also eventually reboot after no wifi signal for a long time, but not sure about wifi with no internet.
Several cameras with the specified firmware now exhibit this same OG behaviour as well.
- Cam OG
- Cam V3 (with July 2024 FW 4.36.13.0416)
- Cam V3 Pro (with July 2024 FW 4.58.13.0416)
- Cam Pan V2 (with July 2024 FW 4.49.13.0416 or newer)
Cam V3 / V3 Pro / Cam Pan V2 with firmware 4.xx.13.0416 or newer will start recording into another folder with a incorrect timestamp after 30 minutes of internet outage. You can flash back to the older firmware of 4.xx.11.8391 which can playback without any problem (under the same condition).
I don’t know if Cam V1, Cam V2, Cam V4, Cam Pan V1 or Cam Pan V3 have the same issue.
