Wet lens/foggy picture each wet morning

each morning my V2 outdoor cams have a bit of rain on the lens which creates a very foggy picture at best. So each morning I have to go wipe off the lens so I can get a clear picture. Any chance that some type of shield is out there to protect the lens from the rain. When the sun is out, which is never, the lens dries off. I now have a cloth on the end of a stick so I can reach the camera lens…great camera, can’t wait for my V3’s to arrive.

FYI, the v2 is not designed to be an outdoor cam. With that said a lot of folks use it that way.

Sorry, guess I’m confused…. Maybe I typed the wrong model…. I’m reading the box…”Wyze Cam Outdoor” Model WVOD1B1MSD#@

Outdoor FCC ID: 2ANJHWVOD1

Outdoor IC: 24984-WVOD1

So back to the foggy picture each morning….

I have only had this issue once with my outdoor cam. But it is covered by the eave of the house. Thought it was just a one time only event since I have not had a problem since.

Amazon does have some aftermarket silicon covers available. I have not tried them so I can not recomend any but here is one I found

Amazon.com : Delidigi Cover Skin for Wyze Cam Outdoor, Weather-Resistant Silicone Protective Case Accessories for WYZE Cam Outdoor Wire-Free Smart Home Camera (Not fit WYZE cam v1 and v2)(Black) : Camera & Photo

Thank you for the info.

No worries, the WCO and v2 are two completely different camera models. Sorry to hear you’re having fogging issues. I can’t say that I have bumped into this myself with the two that I have. I’m in Minnesota and the temps have made it down into the lower teens so far this fall. We’ve also had a few foggy mornings here since mounting my two WCOs. Maybe I need to start paying closer attention?

The foggy look is caused by water/rain/moisture that gets in the indentation around the camera “eye”…… if I tilt it down so the water won’t pool then it is not covering the area I want it to cover… when the sun comes out (I’m in Portland, OR….the sun never comes out) the lens dries out.

Next topic, I just received my 2 new V3 indoor/outdoor cameras……what I didn’t know was that they don’t have a rechargeable battery…they have to be plugged in…which makes it a bit tough when you want to put it somewhere that you’ll have to run an extension cord. So, how long before wyze comes out with an external rechargeable battery pack that will attach to the little pig tail of a power cord that comes out the back of the camera? Or am I the only one thinking about that? I was excited as it was to have color night vision, or so I thought….if it does, I am not getting it. However the B & W night vision is crystal clear and seems to be better than the night vision of my WCO’s…

Thank you

Hmm, I believe the WYZE manual suggests mounting the Wyze Cam Outdoor up relatively high, like 8 feet in the air. Maybe if you were able to find a higher mounting point for your camera you wouldn’t have liquid pooling around the “eye”? I know with both of my outdoor cams I had to remount them multiple times before I was completely satisfied.

One of my two has been through heavy rain and howling winds of 50mph and all is well. Tonight it will dip down to 12 degrees F here in the Twin Cities of MN.

I’m thinking I’ll make a small plastic visor….where this particular camera is mounted, I cannot go any higher without taking pictures of the side of my house…

I still need to figure out my V3, I wanted it on the other side of the house, ran an extension cord, got it all plugged in only to find out that my internet signal wasn’t reaching. I have a xfipod on order from infinity so when it shows up I’ll see if that helps….hope it helps the signal in my daughters room…with stay at home school at the moment she has poor reception and only the xfipod boosters will work with the xfinity transmitter……at $119 each. If it helps, it’ll be worth it! But that’s a different problem unless it helps reach that V3 on the other end of the house?? Thank you for your time and help. Have a good holiday

Yikes, Comcast sure does overcharge for their equipment! I wish you the best of luck with everything and hopefully it all works out without having to take out a second mortgage. Thanks for the kind words and I hope your holidays are great.

By the way, you might want to edit your messages and delete your phone number. There are a lot of crazies on the Internet. Hopefully not too many lurking around the WYZE forums.
