I wonder if it has something to do with triggering event recording with sound?
If we turn the mic off for the live stream then the Sound Event recording wouldn’t work and Sound Detection Sensitivity wouldn’t work.
Normally it would be a simple If / Then routine to deactivate these settings if the mic was turned off. Wyze claims it’s very difficult to implement Dark Mode because of the initial software code. Maybe this is a limitation too?
They do seem to have the ability to stick Cam Plus buttons and ads everywhere though.

I give up, they’ve worn me down. 
Wyze doesn’t realize that to avoid directly answering well-formed, polite and earnest questions about essential functions is not friendly in any way.
They may be informed by their data that so few customers care about this that they have little to lose by absorbing criticism and remaining mute.
This may be efficient businesswise but it calls into question the sincerity of all their claims.
Eroding trust.
You are an old-timer that knows Wyze doesn’t read the user-to-user forum except in a few specialized locations like announcement threads, so unsure what you were expecting?

I think you hit the nail on the head. Can you imagine the uproar if they allowed the mic to be shut off, and the audio event notifications stopped for people who shut the mic off? SMH

But it is a privacy issue. It is our own responsibility of the trigger not responding.

Agreed. Sort of like turning off your smoke detectors so they don’t interrupt your sleep. Your choice.
Yes, when I use them to watch my puppies I Do not want my buyers hearing my conversations in my house. It is my choice to kill the microphone.
Hey if there is a video with people are saying there is now I’ve how to completely take out the microphone. And someone just said on the V2 that you just unplug it from the board but on the V3 there’s a cable. If you’re a handy at all you should be able to soldering the end of that plug on longer wires find a place to run them out or drill some very small holes in the casing. If they’re inside cameras otherwise you’d have silicone in the holes so it would not leak water in. Put a toggle switch on the microphone. That way you can definitely turn it off and when you’re ready you can turn it back on. Might set a reminder in your phone 8 p.m. whenever you cut people off from viewing the puppies then you can turn the sound back on for your security at night. Not sure exactly how you would cut somebody off at a certain time that you had gave permission to view. But it’s an idea.
