I get ya. Seems like a reasonable artistic choice to me, and I don’t mind it, though I’m aware of how some things can hit the 
in an odd way that can take a person out of a song for a moment. It makes me think of one time when I saw some dude performing on the Carson-era Tonight Show and didn’t change a word when I might’ve expected it. In my memory, he was singing “Lover Man (Oh, Where Can You Be?)” (or it might’ve been some other tune I associate with Billie Holiday), and just sang it as-is, and it was a really lovely performance.
I wonder if @habib likes the Dusty Springfield version since it was in one of his favorite movies.
