V4 Cant get RTSP to work with Synology or VLC

I have been trying to setup My V4 RTSP on Synology Surveillance Station which cant detect it so I tried VLC with the provided link in the app for the camera. That also fails with

VLC could not connect to xxx

Your input can’t be opened:

VLC is unable to open the MRL xxx

Any Suggestions?

Since both Synology and VLC fail, I’d narrow this down by testing the exact RTSP URL in VLC from a device on the same LAN as the camera, using the camera’s current local IP. If it still fails there, the issue is between the camera and local network rather than Surveillance Station. Once VLC opens it locally, use that same URL in Synology.

I still cant connect. Camera and desktop on same LAN I have checked router and firewall for everything my google friend suggested. VLC just gives me “connection refused” messages. I have tried both rtsp and rtsps I used the url supplied in the app and also tried rtsp://user:password@IP:554/stream0 ( changing 554 to 322 for rtsps) – any suggestions or push in a different direction

Make sure that RTSP is enabled in the app and disable RTSPS.
Then add it in Synology, should work.
If needed I can double check tonight when I get home.

I was able to add 2 x v4 cameras to my Synology Surveillance station.

I have checked that many times. even tried adding new cameras just to test with the same results. I would appreciate you letting me know what you used for camera brand - the wyze in my synology list only has V2 and Black and if you used secure or not and finally if you used the address the app suggested or something different ( such as adding the ID and password) - Thank You!

I think I used V2 but I need to check when I’m home in about 5 hours.
My remote connection to my nas is not working from the office.

Ah nope, I was able to check.

I used user defined as the brand and rtsp streaming and the url is:

username:password@IP:554/stream0
