I want events to be tracked (even though I get a lot of them) in my garage, but while I’m home, I don’t want to get push notifications to my iPhone. I have been tapping the “bell” and selecting “until I turn it back on”, which displays “Push notifications turned Off”. Works for the most part, but I get a notification every so often and have to repeat the process. When I go to Settings → Notifications, I see that “Notification” is ON and “Motion Events” (under Event Notifications" is also ON. As I said, I want to stop the push notifications to my phone, but still want the motion events to show up when I look on the app. Maybe there is a better way to do this? Thanks.
Are you sure you don’t have a rule that is turning them on (such as tapping “I’m away” or some other automation/rule you’ve created)? Or have you shared the cams with a guest who may be turning them back on?
I don’t use the bell thing, I have automations to turn them off and on at certain times, and I use the “i’m home” and “I’m away” automations as well (but note they can override each other as mentioned above so you have to be aware of all things that can change that setting).
Ah, that was it. I had the “I’m sleeping” automation that was enabling the push notifications at 8 am.
I work from home so I’m hear most of the day. I like having the camera on just since I have it and added an SSD, so recording events is fun. Most of the events are the garage opener light turning one an off all the time (I think I have a flaky sensor on the wall unit).
Thanks for solving my issue.
Its a common point of confusion. I remember I was double checking settings on one of my cams at like 9PM and notifications were off, I was like that’s weird. Then finally remembered I have a rule to shut them off on that cam at 8PM.
Part of what makes it confusing is the automations go into the settings for the cam and change it there, instead of having like a separate “snooze” or even indicating on the setting that it was set that way by a rule.
