I’m on the road so I can’t test this. I’ll be helping an older relative set up a couple plugs over the phone. If i were home I’d test it out on one of my cameras.
They want a couple smart plugs but do not want to use the camera. Can I just power the camera and attach the bridge thingy to the back and then set up the plugs without activating or setting up the camera?

Plugs dont require a camera/bridge. They’re connected to a wifi router.
I attempted to set them up while I was there and they would not connect. I thought I saw something in the app about installing the bridge first. I have 10 plugs set up at my place along with a bridge but I couldn’t remember if they needed the bridge.
I was trying to catch a plane so I didn’t troubleshoot too much. I’ll have to try again over the phone with them when I get home.
On the plus side I did order them the starter kit so if they get hooked they’ll have the sensors.

There’s a trick to connecting them. I had to turn off the phone’s mobile data before they would finally connect to my phone and I could finish set up…
The bulbs, plugs and lock do not need a camera, they are all Independant of each other. One may think a camera is needed because Wyze was a camera company first and that’s what out them on the map. The Sense sensors (contact and motion) do need a camera with the bridge because the bridge piggybacks the wifi of the camera.

That’s a good idea, I’ll start there once I try it again as soon as I get near my plugs so I can walk him through it.

They do require the 2.4 gig connection, not 5 gig on router.
