I would like to have a plug, either indoor or outdoor, turn off after XXX minutes from the time it is turned on manually with the app. Or, another way to look at it is to have the plug turn on for XXX time. This needs to be user initiated, not time of day.

It’s slightly cumbersome, but you can manually set a timer to switch the Plug off once it is on. But since you are already in the app manually turning the Plug on, maybe not so cumbersome.
Automatically using trigger rules you can turn the Plug off if it has been on for xx hours/minutes/seconds. You can even restrict that rule to certain hours. But when the rule is active it happens every time the Plug gets to that time.
Thank You,
I didn’t see that “Has been ON” elapsed time trigger and I didn’t think about having a device trigger a rule for itself.
That works.
