For quite a while, people have been asking for a notification when cameras go offline.
Yesterday morning, I received just such a notification, that my Pan Cam V2 had gone offline. This camera lost power, and came back online when I restored power to the circuit.
Has this feature finally been added?
Is this a server side change? I have not updated the firmware in this camera for a long time, and I received this notification on both iOS (which is on the latest app version), and on Android (that is still on the old 2.50 app version).
I have a few cameras (V3 and OG) that I disconnected a month or so ago, and I did not get this notification when I disconnected those, so this seems new.
It’s been in the works for a few years under this wishlist request and gradually released to some users for select cam models. I noticed the feature back in 2023 in a beta release. It’s a combination of app, firmware and server changes. To enable/disable the feature, go to Wyze app Home > Account > Notifications > Push Notifications. Android app 2.50.x will show a “Device Offline Status (Pilot)” toggle. Android app 3.x will show a "Device Connectivity Notifications (Pilot) toggle. I don’t know which cam models the feature extends to, but offline notifications have been working well for all of my cams.
I also began receiving the notification for cam pan v2 and wondered about it. I did confirm the push notification pilot listed and it was toggled on. Of all the cams listed with a check mark for enable, only the cam pan v2 is getting offline/back online notifications pushed. I can see value for such a feature and look forward to it becoming fully active.
