Power ON/off on icons

I have two Wyze v2 cams that I turn off automatically after dark. My non-v2 cams I leave on 24-hours a day.

I don’t use the on/off button.

Golly Gee, I hardly use light switches in the house, due to automation.

It only turns on and off the notifications, the camera never turns off. Which in my case, I have it in my bedroom because someone was stealing my stuff while I was away, when I am sleeping, I do not want it recording me, so I unplug it.

Is your bedroom camera somewhat hidden? If the thief also takes your camera and adds it to the thief’s Wyze account you will lose all Cloud videos.

I turn mine off quite a bit. I have one that monitors the pool but I only turn it on when people are using it. I have one in my shop, and to keep it from continuously going off when I’m in there I turn it off too. Same for the one in front. During trick-or-treat we turn it off. When we have folks over for a BBQ we turn off the patio cam. So there is multiple reasons to turn off a camera (IMHO).

This “feature” is so retarded, If you’re concerned about privacy this feature does near nothing, If you don’t trust the security of access to the video footage you should NOT trust that this feature actually disable recording.
Also anyone who might have access to that camera in “guest mode” can just turn it back on.

Only the owner should be able to PAUSE them. The real term is Pause Recording, as it’s not turning off anything.

Yes, my camera is hidden, and no one knows how to connect to the camera, let alone what app it is. the camera does not have a name on it. In fact, no one knows there is a camera in my room. And I do move it around from time to time, always hidden. I also do not use the cloud, I do not trust it, I have known a few people that used to hack the cloud.

not sure how that worked, I have a friend with a camera and has a few friends connected to it, you can change your password, but no one else can change yours. only the main account holder can do that.

You may turn on and off the notifications, the camera never shuts down, it continues to record all the time

Absolutely. It should be a preference setting. That would be dead easy.

I’m on the “get rid of the damn power button”, because I have turned off all the cameras at my offices with a stray touch of the screen more than once. It’s irritating, and in fact makes me consider if I need a more reliable system. If you make it easy to disable critical infrastructure, you have essentially rendered it unreliable.

I’m also of the “don’t add things to my favorites list for me”. Why do I have to take the time to REMOVE every new camera I ad to the system from the home screen to declutter it???

Seems like a press-and-hold to pop up a quick confirmation dialog “Do you want to disable all cameras in this group now?” would be a fair compromise.

I use the on/off button when there is an issue and I need to disconnect a camera. Always turn off first before proceeding. About half of my cams get strategically turned off during early morning hours, which I do with automations. The ones that are not are in critical monitoring locations. I literally have 360⁰ cam coverage around my property.
