Person Detection Update: A New Experiment for Premium Features

I have 4 cam’s, +1 scanning camera. Two wize plugs, four PIR sensors, 1 bridge.

I signed up for the $.0.00 for PD. Honestly, I’d pay for it however I get too many false positive for ‘person detected’ for headlight at 1:30am as they light up the tree, Or no person detected yet my neighbor walked right up yo my front door and I got zero notification. IF it was to improve, I could realistically see paying. $1.00~ $1.50 per cam, or a flat rate within reason; IF it worked at a min, of 95-100 % true rate.

Okay glad to read this… Thank you…

Okay I figured it out (I think) I just reset ALL Wyze cam’s, plugs, bridge sensors… formatted the media. kind of a 'fresh start. logged out, back in; the works.

Now I am getting notifications, I can now select Person under notifications and it does not take me to the sign up.

Still missing the Person Detection (Pilot), however I believe ‘angus.black’ & ‘Customer’ are correct. once the ‘trial’ is finished I (hope) it will switch over to the Person Detection (Pilot)…

Thanks for all your input guys. I do Appreciate it very much…

I’m a cam plus member and person detection is included. But I wouldn’t pay for it because of all the false detections and we know why its a forced subscription… their partner who developed person detection bailed on wyze or so we were told. (I say forced because I got this camera due to it having built in person detection, which was labeled as beta but still included)

If you weren’t getting notified or see person detection on events page just need to do a refresh or wait a few hours if you had just got the service added.

But you… do pay for it?

Just curious what type of false detections you get? My PD has been working flawlessly since day 1 of subscribing to Cam+.

I would say he’s paying for Cam + to get CMC. PD just came with it.

Do you have V2 or Pan cameras outside?
I find PD works ok indoors but outside dogs, shadows, trees in the wind all become people.

All V2’s outside in birdhouse type cases right under my eaves. PD does a great job of separating people from cars, shadows, cats, raccoons. I rarely get a false PD reading.

Tree motion, every time. But I don’t know about flawless… It records people when they come inside the cameras vision, regardless of your detection zone settings.

Thanks guy with common sense. I use it for monitoring my parking area. 12 second clips wouldn’t be enough.

My V2 at the front door identifies my dog as a person every morning.
She is a Chocolate Lab. Doesn’t look much like a person.
I sent clips to Wyze every day for months, no difference.

My V2 and Pan both insisted the small grey squirrels we have are people. And the large bush 35 feet away is also apparently a well camouflaged person but PD saw right through that and identified the person.

Odd isn’t it… I have similar issues… It is very peculiar to say the least…

It would be interesting if we were able to get a better understanding of the algorithm used that Wyze uses in PD… And what factors goes into determining what is a person (regardless of whether its an adult or a child…)

For me, people can be moving trees branches, shadow movement from passing headlights or cats. This is all 20 to 30 ft away from my window. If it weren’t for cmc in cam plus, I’d opt out of PD because of all the false alarms.

Exactly… odd…

We may be over simplifying the technology behind PD… But yikes… Their algorithm could definitely use more research and development…

Curious. I have a steady stream of squirrels, accounting for many motion detections. And yet I’ve never gotten a false person detection on one. Could be because my cameras still have Xnor firmware but I don’t think that’s how it works anymore. (My cameras are mounted high above a doorway pointed down.)

6 posts were split to a new topic: PanCam SD Recording

I like my cameras but I don’t think the left hand of the company knows what the right hand is doing. Received an e-mail saying that I missed the sign up period for the person detection feature (which I did), so I went to the sign up page and it said I was already signed up. Technology screw ups happening everywhere these days. Must be rocket science. Really like the cameras!

You and Wyze both say missed the signup but the web site says you didn’t?
Who do you trust?
