You are the first and only person I’ve heard that from.
So with cam plus will person detection work like cmc?
CAM Plus is CMC and Person Detection (PD).
The Indoor Cam holds up well outside. The stand is actually a ball and socket arrangement that’s very sturdy. And so far it’s motion detection as well as people and pet has been very accurate.
One area that Eufy and Wyze overlap is having multiple settings in different places impact motion detection. This confusion can lead to not setting up detection the way you think you have.
Have you tried a Blink Mini yet?
He’s a Eufy person now.
And their wireless outdoor looks top notch. Annoying they don’t have a wired version. Wyze disease.
Hey does TinyCam get any more stable when using RTSP instead of native Wyze support?
I have not but my neighbor has 2 he is evaluating. He is a 100% Alexa guy so the fact they are owned by Amazon makes them attractive to him. So far he seems pretty happy.
I have one of these arriving tomorrow. It’s battery powered (1 year per charge claimed) and outdoor certified.
This is much more expensive than the Wyze outdoor cam but it’s a much better camera. It’s not really fair to compare them as they are very different price points. It requires a base station as well, but each base station can handle 16 cameras.
They do have wired cams just not outdoor rated, yet. For that you need to look at Eve or Logitech.
Cloud costs are only going to get more expensive over time. Why not look at doing all of it locally with a local hardware add-on and forget about cloud based models and save WYZE from future financial problems?
Totally agree, move away from relying on the cloud and work on local based solutions that have known costs.
The whole idea behind the “Internet of Things” is to keep devices tied to your servers by either requiring a connection to boot or moving some/all functionality to the cloud.
This builds a user base that will become a recurring revenue stream for you. As without that connection most IoT devices become a paperweight.
This requirement is entirely artificial and not actually necessary. Typically the excuse given is it is required to use/access the device while away from home.
There are a number of much more secure and vendor independent ways to accomplish such access but those ways don’t tie you to the vendor.
What, as of now? So we are being forced into this? Sorry I’m so dense.
It’s the opposite for me.
I see they have no Person Detection and no continuos play.
I haven’t tried WYZE RTSP because it still relies on a WYZE account connection.
Not forced but many people are going to be using the trial without intending to.
They don’'t make it easy to not start the trial.
For a company that seems concerned about the cost of server processing this seems counterintuitive.
So is it in the app already? I’m not a beta tester btw so maybe it won’t show on my end
It is in the beta app in the Account tab and under Services.
It doesn’t show as a Pilot so I assumed it was released.
Well I thought the whole premise was also that they could be extremely light weight since anything important or CPU intensive could be done in the non-existent cloud.
As people come to terms with what it really means - dozens of vendors having to maintain 24/7 connections to the devices in your home just so you can dim some lights - the proposition becomes less attractive to both sides…
Ok the public release still shows it as pilot. Thanks. I did just talk to Wyze and they said it’s a choice. If we don’t want PD then we don’t have to have it. For those who are wondering. I also just downloaded a fresh copy to a device that never had Wyze installed and don’t have what you show above. Too bad we can’t get clarification on this though
If Angus’s experience is any indicator that is just not true. They intend to enroll people automatically in a trial with no official way to opt out. …
