I jumped in, on the Wyze smart bulb V1, long, long ago. (4+ yrs)
I always wondered, when the end of the road would come ?
I’m not sure, if this is the end, though.
Today it will not respond to Alexa or Wyze app Commands. (Status - online & Up to date)
It will work, if you cut off the power n turn it back on.
Then it will turn on, and respond to commands. After a few hours, it will go back to, it’s non responsive state.
That’s just Wyze not doing regression testing. As they add new code, the old code gets broken.
Years ago I switched to a competing brand of smart bulbs because Wyze took a long time to fix its scheduling bug that wouldn’t work when the period crossed midnight.
Kasa line of smart bulbs and switches; feature wise, they are very similar to Wyze equivalents. With Wyze I had to split a single rule into 2 because the code erroneously treated the end time as earlier (8pm to 4am). It took them a long time to fix this simple bug. I have no trouble at all with these Kasa bulbs and switches.
Look like changing vendors for bulbs is my next option. I tried the app on my ipad and have same issue I saw on Android. I was hoping they didn’t screw up both but they did.
The Kasa app isn’t as organized as the Wyze app. But if you only have a few items, it shouldn’t matter too much. You can also try the Tapo app, it also works for the old Kasa line of devices; same manufacturer.
Setup my Kasa bulbs today. Wow how the technology has improved since 2019.
Set up bulbs to work with Google Home. Amazing results. Turn on and off by voice is cool but telling g to set Kelvin for 2700K or 6500K is hilarious. I said set the bulbs to chartreuse and it complied, after trying RGB. Amazing.
