we have been dealing with kids roaming around and checking if car doors are locked at night. Is it possible to add notifications for only a certain portion of the detection zones? to be clear, i have a detection zone that is the street + my driveway. I would like to get detections for PERSON detected in my driveway ONLY during the night. I dont want the rest of the detection zone to get notifications but i still want to record…am i making sense?

I’m afraid that’s not possible. If you want notifications from the driveway only then you’ll have to exclude the rest. The AI is not that smart at this point in time 
Can’t you just use smart detection in the activity zone ?
Yes you can, but the OP wants to have notifications only from a portion of the activity zone, not from the entire zone. At least that is how I interpreted.

Sorry brother, that’s not possible unless you put two cameras side by side and have different zones on each cam.
